I bought this set based on the other glowing reviews so perhaps I had an overly high expectation. As I didn't find this that funny, I wanted to write this dissenting review. Overall, I found this anime to be boring and I almost fell asleep several times. The type of humor consists of: 1. a long setup followed up by a sudden incongruity. For example, the straight character will describe how he expects to see a great tough guy, who is super tough, and everyone is scared and he is scared, and how this guy must be incredible, etc... he slides open the door, and it is... a Gorilla. wha???? As if 8 well thought out episodes was not enough, another 6 well done ones to add to that is a wow factor. We are introduced to mechazawa's younger brother, and Takeshi Hokuto and Hokuto's Lackey are developed a bit more. Before you even choose an episode, the CD/record store intro. is very suave. You don't find out until later on on another disc why Hokuto's Lackey is called Hokuto's Lackey instead of by his name. There's also an extra indicating that Hokuto's Lackey's name and character were so hard to remember that even one of the creators of the manga /anime himself had a hard time remembering who that guy was. The intro. to this DVD is not as exciting as the last two as it's a bland black on white screen with a robot like voice asking you to play an episode basically. We are introduced to a Japanese Champion competition and the word "Gachooon." We also learn more about Hayashida than meets the eye. Pootan and Gerotan appear again and get into an argument, and Freddie is back too as another actor and an economist! Mechazawa's "motorcycle" comes back again. We hear a new Cromartie ending theme. There's something on meat in one of the episodes in which they may elaborate more on as side episodes in the future since this series has been doing fairly well. I really really disliked it and felt that it wasn't that funny and wasn't worth your time or money. I have read other reviews though just to be fair and I have found that more than a few others have really enjoyed this series so maybe I just don't have the right sense of humor for a series like this. Then again, maybe I'm right and everyone else is wrong. It really doesn't matter either way, does it? The point I'm trying to make is that ever since I put the first DVD of this series in, I've felt like my time has been wasted on watching it and I'm glad that I don't have to pick it up again. I just received this yesterday excited that this was volume two of the series yet when I opened it and saw the first episode of it, it was the exact thing I had. I had the original complete collection and thought after looking over the box and seeing the name Vol. 2 that it was an additional group. If you have the complete collection blue box do not get this, it is a waste of money. I love the series and has wished it to be true that this was the second batch but alast, not.
