This original BBC UK version narrated by David Attenborough includes footage that was edited out in the US version that was narrated by Sigourney Weaver that aired on Discovery. This is a definite must have for any Bluray collection. The cinematography is mindblowing. Definitely gives you an appreciation for the beauty of this planet & the things living in it.

This movie is so much fun to watch and also very up-lifting. It is about a senior choral group in their 80s and 90s that has performed rock music internationally. The spirit of the seniors is amazing. My husband and I are seniors also but we think any adult/teen would enjoy the movie very much.

After having known Scorsese's earlier work like "Last Waltz" and recently "No Direction Home - Bob Dylan", I expected "Shine a light" to be of a similar standard. But it's mostly damp squib with the entire movie being about just one concert (all songs shown are played fully) with very few titbits from backstage and fewer clips from Stones' earlier years. This is not a documentary on the Rolling Stones but rather an extended dvd of one concert. Nothing really stands out here. All in all very avoidable. Hugely disappointing as earlier works like "The Last Waltz" and "No Direction Home" are like collectibles that can be watched several times over the years with their timeless quality..."Shine a Light" is nowhere near that..one watch and you can toss it in the bin...oh well...

I saw this movie, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, twice in both San Francisco, CA and Atlanta, GA theaters. In each location the audience was engaged and complimentary of this enlightening and entertaining film. If I had to guess, I think the crowds would have rated this movie a 4 on average. I give it a five because Ben Stein has never demonstrated anything but the highest integrity in all of his professional endeavors and I believe this film is no exception. He brings a lifetime of experience and thought to this project. It is thoroughly researched, documented, cross-referenced and presented in an even-handed manner. The film does draw conclusions but I believe those conclusions are the same ones on which a reasonable person would settle. I applaud while standing this insightful and ... Read More

I learned alot watching this video. Like how screwed up The United States is when dealing with Health Care. Mr. Moore makes alot of valid points about what is wrong with our Health Care system, and why other countries manage theirs so well. Very enlightening.

I wanted to see this film ever since it got outstanding reviews during its theatrical run. Unfortunately, that theatrical run did not include my town. However, when I watched the dvd, I found that the reviews did not do this film justice.
Chris Bell's film blows away anything that Michael Moore puts out for the reason that even though Bell is against steroids, he realizes that there is a huge gray area with this subject (as there is with almost any topic). Bell points out (rightly so), that performance enchancing drugs are a way of life in just about any walk of life, and that the majority of steroid users are the average Joes wanting to look better, not athletes. He also points out that for all the ranting and raving about the dangers of steroids, alcohol and tobacco abuse count for way more illness ... Read More

The episode on the Big Bang is worth the price just by itself. For anyone who ever wanted to know how "we" know what we know about the Big Bang, this contains one episode solely focused on that aspect. Yes, I too had learned most of this in grade school, but there are some who are not as fortunate (or need a refresher). Neil DeGrasse Tyson's quote at the end of that episode is priceless...

My son Joshua was a senior in high school on that fateful morning of
September 11th,2001.The next day he and his best friend went
to the local Army recruiter and enlisted.Like all Americans,he felt helpless in this terror-filled new universe we all woke up to
on the morning after.Nothing would ever be the same.Americans were
facing a "faceless" enemy;my son and thousands of young Americans like him, felt they had to "do something". In the spring of 2003,Josh
entered Iraq and would not come home until January 2004. America had finally put a face to our enemy;Saddam Hussein had to be taken down.
Mission accomplished...but was it the right mission?
CSNY/DEJA VU chronicles the aftermath of Bush's decision to topple Saddam.

Jon & Kate Plus Ei8ht, Seasons 1 - 2. This is a wonderfully, enjoyable DVD about everyday life about a real-life family with twins and sextuplets. The kids are adorably cute and Kate (the mom) is so organized, she makes handling eight kids seem like a "cake walk." Her husband, Jon, is a fun "side-kick", and a great hands-on dad. Not only will you watch everyday life at the Gosselin home, you also get to travel with them to interesting and fun places (Disney World, Oprah, pumpkin patch, Gymboree, etc.). These places may not be on this DVD, but these are some of the places the Gosselins have visited and filmed for their TV program on TLC.
