The product is listed as widescreen; it is not. The other games and cartoons are grainy and not up to what we have come to know as Disney standards. There are a lot of people in this world you can't trust, but I always figured Disney was above all of this...well Walt Disney was.

Now everyone is just out for as much money as they can get. Re-releasing this cute movie as a 45th anniversary special DVD is nothing more than trying to scrape in those dollars. Even at $20.00 it's not worth it.

And just for general purposes, I'm sick and tired of buying any type of DVD, Movie, Video that contains ads to buy even more of their products. Most people just fast forward through them anyway.

We are inundated with commercials on TV and now on movies we buy. I ... Read More

Great DVD. I played a borrowed version of the movie for my third graders at the end of last year. Only two children had ever seen it! I decided to purchase it to play at the end of the year each year as all students were totally entralled. I especially enjoyed this special addition--learning more about the history of the making of the movie! A delight to watch! I highly recommed it.

Most everyone has seen Sound of Music, but this fortieth anniversary of the film includes a reunion of those who made it so well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching every moment.

Volume Two is actually a better collection than Volume One. This collection contains 60 cartoons, 15 per disc. Disc One is titled Bugs Bunny Masterpieces, many are Bugs Bunny classics. Disc Two is titled Road Runner & Friends. Not all feature the Road Runner, the last few are one-hit wonders, such as "The Dover Boys". Disc Three is titled Tweety & Sylvester & Friends. Once again, some are without the title characters. Disc Four is titled Looney Tunes All Stars: On Stage & Screen. This disc does contain "One Froggy Evening" which won an Academy Award. There are some Bugs Bunny cartoons on this disc, it also contains some one shots, such as "I Love to Singa", a takeoff on the Jazz Singer. Like Volume One's disc four, Volume Two's disc four is the least enjoyable.

This musical won 8 Oscars including Best Picture and it is richly deserving of the accolades. The cast is superb and the songs are all standards destined to be appreciated over the years. I've watched this film many times over the years and I never get tired of watching it and in fact I'm looking forward to the next screening. No fan of musicals should be without this dvd in their collection.

The dvd itself is also a treat as it has been restored pretty well. Picture quality-wise it isn't perfect but it's still very good given the state of the severely deteriorated original master and is still a lot better than many other "restored" older films that I've seen. Also widescreen format is the best way to view this film and this is the format in which it is presented here on this dvd. There is a ... Read More

Based on Pasternak's excellent novel, this is one of the truly great movies. It is strong in all areas. The story is powerful, the actors excellent, the editing appropriate, the sound track wonderful and the cinematography breathtaking.

Even the scene in which the child Zhivago's mother is buried on a bitter Winter day is fabulous. We are actually permitted into the coffin of the beautiful young woman as her orphaned child watches ice crystals forming on his window. Unique, powerful and breathtaking. It's all breathtaking.

Zhivago sees beauty where others see only grief and ugliness. He tries to understand when his family home is subdivided and administered by tight-lipped Communists hacks. Personally apolitical, Zhivago is a witness and victim of the political events of his time. He serves ... Read More

Proof positive that great visuals do not make up for an overlong art piece that pretends to be a major movie release. Heavy-handed yet vague to the point of nausea. I hated this movie. It was long, boring, and outside of an art gallery has no business being lauded as a "masterpiece". The effects and film technique were stunning, but the movie as a whole (aside from the tech) was utter junk. As for the assertion that those of us who hate this film are "adolescent"? I am 28 and have loved film of all kinds my whole life and still hate it. My 50+ year old mother saw it in theaters when it released and hated it. I have not met one person, who watched it as something other than a study piece, who liked it. I may not have a doctorate but I know movies, and I hated this one. If you enjoyed it then God bless you. Just don't expect everyone ... Read More

We'd just seen the movie, and my wife brought me this in a bookstore assuming it was the original series. I knew it wasn't, but the front of the DVD claims "The Complete Series" with the title "Get Smart" with *no* indication that it is the remake other than the fine print "the Smarts are Back in Control". This is somewhere between dishonest and deceptive, and is certainly sleazy. Buyer beware: the real complete series is ~$200 for a boxed set of multiple seasons. Shame on Sony marketing.

I fell in love with The Thin Man totally on accident. My dad happened to catch it on PBS one afternoon, and about half-way through, it caught my attention. When it was all done, I knew I had to see it from the start. I have now watched it many, many times (since I first saw it over 12 years ago). In fact, this movie was what helped me convince my hubby ( a previously die-hard action flick man) to watch classic films. He is now as big a buff as I am. Remember, a dry martini is alway shaken to waltz time....
