Okay, I'm just going to go ahead and say this -- I enjoy a good epileptic experience every now and then, and this was about the best film out there to fulfill that urge.

That aside, it was a ton of fun in other ways as well. It really hit that nostalgic sweet spot, while still being new and fresh.

You have to keep in mind that it's basically a kid's movie, so you can't expect it to be too serious, deep, or realistic. It's meant to be thrilling, colorful, and even inspiring in some ways, and in my opinion, it achieves those ideals quite well.

I just discovered they released the first film remastered, and in a keepcase to boot in 2007
I wouldnt call it a killer transfer-and the movie seems less solid than when I first viewed

DVD : The Matrix
As annoying as Keanu C. Reeves can be, this is his ultimate role! The 44 year old Canadian actor whose middle name is Charles plays Neo who is most unlike his character in the 1989 comedy Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Released in 1999 and written and directed by the Wachowski brothers this film takes the viewer into a dismal future for mankind in the year 2199. As ubiquitous as today's World Wide Web is, this film goes in a direction that takes electronic machines and their artificial intelligence to the extreme in which they take captive 99% of humanity.

As dependent on machines, the internet and technology as we are - could all of that become greater than us and in turn rely on us for its survival? You decide, this movie is in my personal top three movies I have ever seen!

The movies themselves are only part of the treat. The Extra material is fasinating and thought provoking.

After being so disappointed/confused with "The Matrix Reloaded" after seeing it in the theater in 2003, I didn't even see this film on the big screen when it came out, instead renting it once it came out on home video. After viewing, I realized that I missed the wrong Matrix film to skip for a long period of time.

Whereas "Revolutions" does not come close to the first film in duplicating the originality of the idea, it superbly triumphs the sub-par second film by eliminating much of the philosophical mumbo-jumbo and instead focus on a plot that the average viewer has a chance to understand.

Essentially, two things happen during the course of this film (I liken it to the Lord of the Rings series, where Frodo/Sam do their thing while the rest of Middle Earth fights Sauron): First, the city of Zion braces ... Read More

After being absolutely blown away by the original "Matrix" film, I was expecting much of the same the second time around. Unfortunately, that is EXACTLY what happened...albeit too much.

The major appeal of the first film was that the complex story was put into terms that, while sometimes complicated, most people could still understand. "Reloaded", however, ratchets that level of difficulty in understanding the subject material into the stratosphere, as characters expounded on the notions of "rogue computer programs", "choice", and "free will". Far too many times I felt as if I needed undergraduate degrees in philosophy and computer science to understand what the heck was going on!

The other readily-apparent flaw in this film was its overuse of action scenes. The first film provided just the right combination ... Read More

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think this is the best work that the Wachowski Brothers have ever done. This is an awesome film noir, a film where you have no idea what's going to happen. I remember sweating bullets during it because, as an avid film person, I usually figure this stuff out. But this film kept me guessing until the end, which is something most modern films don't do.

Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon are awesome as the leads, and Joey Pantoliano gives a great, great performance as a deranged heavy that may lose it at any time. Many have made hay about the 2 lead characters being lesbians, which to me ultimately doesn't matter. The film itself is incredible tense and entertaining, and you forget about the fact that the two lead women are lesbians, even though the sex scenes are quite steamy.
