It is an excellent presentation of Massenet's opera Manon. Of course, the dream cast of Natalie Dessay and Rolando Villazon contributes enormously to the enjoyment of this DVD. The production is first-class and depicts the life of these women, who are paid for by wealthy suiters, more realistically than in any other production. Highly recommended.

To date this Blu-ray performance of Tchaikowsky's Swan Lake is the best I have seen! Rudolf Nureyev's professional direction is an art to behold. The dancers' choreography is balanced and symetrical as well as easily understandable. Also, if desired, infrequent English subtitles help clarify the story line. Absolutely enchanting!

I think the great success of this production is owed to the stage direction of Laurent Pelly and the choreography of Laura Scozzi as much as the great performances of the principal players. I could imagine how tedious this light-hearted, three act farce could have been in the wrong hands. But, it was in the best hands! The slapstick story moves right along with scene after scene of hilarious dance numbers and absurd costumes and scenery. Felicity Lott was supremely funny in the title role and gave a great singing and dancing performance. Equally demanding were the roles of Sandrine Piau as Wanda and Yann Beuron as Fritz, which both acquitted superbly. it was very exciting to watch raymonda ballet, and im a fan of paris ballet opera, i almost have the complete collection of paris opera ballet dvd. but when i purchase this item i was very discourage! im expecting more superb performances, cause the cast are my favorite dancers, i was hoping that i can watch the full length production of this ballet, but what i see is a sort of documentary. So i can rate it only for 2 stars, im so sorry for this. But i think if they could release the full length of this raymonda ballet. Well i think! they are more excellent compare to the other ballet companies!

I was glued to this opera for the entire 289 minutes! It was so utterly engrossing! I do not understand how anyone could criticize any aspect of it. Everything about it--music, singing, staging, performances, pacing--was superb! Ironically, I purchased and watched this opera out of a sense of obligation; everyone who likes opera should watch it--a classical duty. And I waited until I had run out of others to watch...What a fantastic surprise! Duh!!! As of this writing, there are only 3 used copies of this available from Amazon sellers, but it is current in the Naxos catalog. I recommend it highly!!!
