What a great trip back to what I consider one of the best television series ever filmed. I actually didn't start watching Hill Street Blues until midway through season 2, so other than catching a couple of the episodes from Season 1 in reruns these shows were mostly new to me. Writers Steven Bochco and Michael Kozoll created some of the most original characters ever seen on TV up to that point. Although the show was never a ratings smash it achieved cult status with its extremely loyal fan base and earned 98 Emmy Award Nominations during its seven year run.

The Season One set has all 17 episodes, including the award-winning pilot "Hill Street Station". It is interesting to note, three actors who became major characters in the show, Michael Warren (Hill), Charles Haid (Renko), and ... Read More

I loved this series when it was run during the 80's. I would have seen quite a few episodes but not them all. With this box set you will not be dissapointed. The stories are by and large excellent. Always some unexpected ending that will leave you going wow. The menu was a little bit arkward as each nights episode is listed together even though sometimes an episode had two or three different stories. This does not take away from the stories only it was sometimes a bit messy finding where you had left off at the previous viewing. All in all you will have many good nights viewing.

Man I was dissapointed in this film I love Johi May and Colin Firth but this was a waste of money and the end was not very clear and the movie was rather depressing.

"The Big Town" doesn't break any cinematic ground but it's more than worth your while. How can you go wrong with a film that sports two Oscar winners(Tommy Lee Jones, Lee Grant) and three nominees(Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Bruce Dern) in the cast? Director Ben Bolt imbues the film with terrific period atmosphere and the selection of rock, rhythm and blues, and country and western music is impeccable. The film has a gritty sensiblity reminiscent of classic film noir. Dillon is fine as the kid from Indiana with a knack for dice rolling who seeks his fame and fortune in the seedy backrooms of Chicago. It's Jones, however, who steals the picture in an understated turn as the film's ostensible villain. Jones doesn't have to say a word. Just a squint of his eyes and a look at his craggy visage says it all. Good ... Read More

This is one of the best sit coms I have ever seen. To bad we can't make shows of this quality in the U.S. This is as good as one of my most liked shows: The Good Life (differnt U.S. title) If PBS would pick this up it would be better than Waiting for God. Just a great show. Get an international DVD player and buy many shows from the U.K. that we can not get here such as Doc Martin at amazon.co.uk (I don't work for amazon but its a great site)

I have seen a very similar story on Babylon V and I think its a non SF copy. The story itself is of a prisioner who is rehabilitated using a mind control method. However others have a different agenda and attempt to turn him into an assassin. It had enough twists and turns to make it interesting.

The acting was fair. Certainly Alec Baldwin can do much better.

Overall it was quite viewable. Probably worth a look.

If you love Hitchcock thrillers, you'll love "Never Come Back" It's London, during the so-called "Phony War"; handsome young Desmond Thane (Nathaniel Parker), who has pretensions of writing the great war novel, is making a living by day writing for a women's magazine and boring his colleague Marcus (Jonathan Coy), with tales of his nighttime exploits and theories on free love.

Then Desmond's carefree life begins to unravel. First he's stalked by the fiancé of one of the woman he had a brief fling with and then he meets the enigmatic Anna Raven. At first glance Anna would seem to be the ideal woman for Desmond, but now that the shoes on the other foot, Desmond suddenly becomes very traditional, wanting to know more about Anna than she's willing to reveal - and this is Desmond's undoing. One night, in Anna's ... Read More
