I'm not an aficionado of war movies, but I'm familiar enough with them to know the elements that were once groundbreaking but are now cliche (several scenes in this movie remind me of Platoon in particular). I went into this expecting a lame spoof movie, but instead I saw one of the best comedies that has come a long for a very long time. If you're tired of the drivel from the "Not Another Teen Movie/Meet the Spartans" bunch, don't worry-- this is NOTHING like that! It's actually FUNNY, SMART and ENTERTAINING. (That shouldn't be so much to ask, but it seems to be!) The premise is very much like Galaxy Quest, another film where actors are thrust into a real-life situation and must get themselves out. all i can say is do not buy anything from amazon. com because although this one came we ordered season 4 of two& a half men they shipped it twice or at least they said they did after waiting 3& a half months for the dvd to arrive it never did their customer service was very rude and were either unable & unwilling to help us with this matter we went to wal mart & picked it up with no problem & it only took them one week to get it for us amazons service stinks.

it is a wonderful cast and story. they do a wonderful adaption of S.E. Hinton's Novel. although- they miss a few chapters in the story.

This DVD was a great buy. I paid an excellent price for "Legend" and was very satisfied with the picture quality. The movie was brand new and in perfect condition. This is a classic old school fantasy flick. It has mythical creatures, fairies, magic and is a timeless tale of good versus evil. You will love the effects, wardrobe, and costumes, as well as the storyline.

sometimes makes a good movie. The Last Samurai is. Historical? Hardly. Take a few grains: yes, Samurai existed in Japan as an ancient, militaristic culture, a law unto themselves, & Japan was opening itself up to the west at the time of the movie (1876). Aside from that... Cruise is an emotionally damaged hero of the civil & Indian wars. He is contracted to whip the Japanese army into a fighting force. Who is the enemy? The Samurai, who are much admired & feared through-out Japan. They refuse to surrender to modernity & give up their way of life. In battle he is captured by the Samurai. Their leader is played very well by Ken Watenabe. He is impressed by Cruise's fighting skills & spares him. Can you guess the rest? Of course.
