I thought this was the new live action movie that came out. It's a bad time to have this on sale. The unbox version also seems to have only 2 arcs. Maybe half of what you get on the DVD.
Bad deal in every way. Avoid this. I rented the Unbox for Tivo

I do not know if you can tell how long someone has watched an item, but if you could you would know that I have been watching all of your dvd's since I knew that they where sold on Amazon. It has been about a year that I have waited trying to get the money saved up tp buy them all at once, and I am so excited to say that it was well worth the wait. The quality and condition of the videos where awesome. I would recommend anyone who wants to buy the Speed Racer tv series to do so from this seller.

I just let a review for the other volume that I have (I have all of them) and so I am not going to tell the whole story again, but if anyone wants to read it just go check out his reviews for volume 3 I believe and you can read it. However, I will state that these dvds that he is selling are in great shape and wonderful quality and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to buy the Speed Racer series.

DVD : Gatchaman Collector's Box 1 (Vols. 1-2)
I was a huge fan of Battle of the Planets as a kid, but of course I never realised at the time that it was a cut down version of a Japanese classic with strange robots thrown in! I was keen to see the original uncut version, 'Gatchaman' so I ordered the first few collectors sets.
BOTP was always a great show and still watchable from a purely nostalgic point of view, but Gatchaman is a completely different show. It is more adult in tone, and nasty things do happen - there is no 7-Zark-7 to explain that the squadron of fighter aircraft that has been destroyed were 'only robot fighters'. I have watched most of the episodes with the American dub, which is very good, and the voices do grow on you; Berg Katse (aka Zoltar) does take some getting used to, and some of the Galactor commanders sound ... DVD : Gatchaman Collector's Box 2 (Vols. 3 & 4)
The Episodes in the "Teens" are probably the fall down part of the Gatchaman series, The episodes on Collection 2 are not as fun and exciting as Collection 1. For me it's because there's really no fighting action just God Phoenix VS Galactor Mecha. I rather see them infiltrate Galactor bases and beat the crap outta the bad guys. Still, there are quite a few highlight episodes but they are HEAVILY surrounded by boring episodes.

Highlight Episodes
-The Fearsome Icekander
-Speed Race Through Hell
-Who Is Sosai X?
-The Great Insect Operation
-The Neon Giant Who Laughs At The Dark

If you're a BIG fan of BOTP and G-Force I recommend this for the nostalgia. I'm 100% sure that Collection 3 has alot of more fun and exciting episodes so be sure to pick that ... Read More

DVD : Gatchaman Collector's Box 3 (Vols. 4, 5 & 6)
I ordered this off the net and It took so dang look jus for it to come. And the wait was worth it! Almost every single episode on this collection is worth watching. The voice acting has really grown on me, especially Jun's after watching all those girls audition I think Kim Prause was the one who really got Jun's voice down. Anyways there still are a couple of boring episodes but they are heavily surrounded by more exciting ones. Be sure to pick this one up you'll enjoy it more than the second collection.

Highlights Include
-Gallactor's Witch Racer
-The Invisible Devil
-Gallack X, The Demon Man
-The Plan To Assinate Dr. Nambu
-The Grand Gezora Operation Pt I/II

9.Gatchaman Collection 7 (Vols. 13 & 14) starring: Katsuji Mori, Isao Sasaki, Kazuko Sugiyama, Yoku Shioya, Shingo Kanemoto

Well, this review is a little premature; I've seen all the original episodes with subtitles, but my "super-saver shipping" pre-order is taking over a week to arrive. Amazon buyer beware, I guess. That said, I have the whole collection to date and will say that in the 48 ADV episodes I have seen, the voice-acting has been adequate to good, the commentaries have been poor to great (and tending to be better on the later disks), and the extras have been generally phenominal.

Short review: The highlights of this set are the Red Impulse (RI) episodes (51-54) which reveal RI's connection to Ken, and serve to fuel Ken with rage for the next 50 episodes. This also marks a turning point in the entire series, as the focus tends more toward Joe (G-2), since he is the more complex and interesting character. ... Read More
