Everyone should be able to view Hayao Miyazaki animation. This film is no exception. You must see these films more than once. Put the setup in Japanese and English subtitles to get a better effect. Watch the films once for the story and then for the background animation. Superb!!!!

I can't wait for Studio Ghibli's next film to come to the U.S.. It is currently showing in Japan.

I love this. I've never felt more joy from a movie. It's great to watch when you're just bummed, or sick. SO cute.

I bought this DVD with a little trepidation after reading some of the more critical reviews on Amazon. While I'm glad I read the criticisms before buying this DVD (I always find that critical reviews tell me more about the viewing experience I'm likely to have), I am really glad that they didn't put me off buying what is undoubtedly a masterpiece of anime and a wonderful introduction to the genre.

Basically, the only anime I've seen until now (apart from a few episodes of various minor league TV shows) was Steamboy, and while I found Steamboy entertaining, Nausicaa blows it away in terms of the tightness of its writing, the epic sweep of its story, the direction and the voice acting of the mostly American cast. While the visuals seem a little dated by today's standards, the story and ... Read More

This is a great continuation of the first One Piece box set. Funi once again shows that they've taken ownership of the license and produced a quality English dub with voice acting on par with much of American animation. By now, the only qualms are the lack of the original Japanese logo anywhere on the set (even as an alternate angle! Please? Just once...?) and that there's only 13 episodes. Funi's budget probably doesn't allow the release of more at a time, but you'll blow through these 13 fairly quickly. It doesn't help that by the show's long-running format, these episodes only finish up the Kuro arc from the last set and get halfway through the Don Krieg arc. At last you get the formal introduction of Sanji and Zoro's backstory along the way.

Highly recommended. The One Piece saga only ... Read More

I wasn't going to buy this movie because it was so old I thought the animation and everything else would be outdated, but I got it anyway just to complete my Miyazaki/Ghibli DVD collection. I'm glad I did! Aside from the music, you wouldn't even know this was released in the 70's! This movie is great, and downright fun. It's also the most humorous Miyazaki film out there.

That whole animation sequence where they're swimming through the aquaducts is amazing. The camera angles were some of the best I've seen.

My girls have been asking for a Hello Kitty show for a while and I finally broke down and ordered these titles (Fairy Tales, Princess, Movies). The stories are very cute. The animation so-so. But when these go on, even my 8 year old son will pop in to watch. The episodes are based on classic tales that are "kitty-fied" with nothing violent or scary.

DVD : Ulysses 31 - The Mysteries of Time
I recall catching "Ulysses 31" on occasion when it aired Sunday mornings on the local independent station way back when. However, I didn't really remember any of the adventures or situations our hero, his two preteen charges, and cutesy robot sidekick got themselves into week after week. What I DID remember was that the show's storylines tended to be more developed and maturer than most of the other kidvid `toonage that was bein' cranked out at the time. Which was likely the main reason the show stayed in my memory to a certain degree long after my interest in `toons had subsided. Sadly, my efforts to rekindle a few of these memories over the last few years ultimately proved fruitless as I looked `round for a few episodes of "Ulysses 31" on video, and found nothing... until this DVD came out. That's when I decided ... Read More

Ahh, this was the series that started it all! My love and fascination for anime! True, there are far better animated and written samurai anime series since, but Rurouni Kenshin is easily one of the most popular and recognizable anime ever.

For those few not in the know, Himura Kenshin is a Rurouni - a wandering samurai. He was the Hitokiri Battousai: the most feared swordsman in 19th century Japan during the waning years of the Tokugawa era. After taking countless enemy lives during the revolution, he decides to atone for his sins by living a life of peace and virtual anonymity wandering the countryside.

Now sworn to protect life, Kenshin uses the sakabatou (a reversed blade sword.) But ghosts from his past come back to haunt him, and he must fight to save his his soul, new found friends (Kaoru, ... Read More
