As far as showing what a tough guy Steven Seagal can be, "Out for Justice" is without a doubt our hero's most intense and violent offering to date. You want Seagal to impress you? - let him put on his beret and start blowing peoples' limbs off with a shotgun. To simplify it, "Justice" is the more vulgar version of "Above the Law", with Seagal forgetting about family and friends in favor of some of his meanest action ever. If nothing, this film reminds us why Seagal is an adult's action hero, and thus effectively puts the actor's overweight, Zen-spouting personas to shame with his most no-nonsense show yet.

When policeman Bobby Lupo is gunned down in broad daylight on a shopping street by drug dealer Richie Madano (William Forsythe, "The Waterdance"), Det. Gino Felino (Seagal) convinces ... Read More

this movie was nothing like i thought it was going to be. this is one of the worst movies i've ever seen in my life so far. i expected it to make fun of the news not be the news. i would only recommend this movie for someone i didn't like & i hope nobody makes the same mistake i did by buying this movie. it sucks.

This movie is from the brief period at Warner Brothers when Steven Seagal had decent budgets and good co-stars. This is an obvious ripoff of Die Hard, with Seagal in the Bruce Willis role, Tommy Lee Jones in the Alan Rickman role, and a battleship substituting for an office building. There is an inherent appeal in these movies as the badly outnumbered hero gradually knocks off the bad guys before finally confronting the head villain. Of course, Seagal can't really act, but that's not actually required here. Ex-Playboy playmate Erika Eleniak contributes a brief -- but formidable -- nude scene. (It's interesting that Erika manages to make it through all the slam bang action without breaking even one of her inch-long red fingernails.) All in all, a great popcorn movie for those who like non-stop action ... Read More

I was a huge fan of Steven Segal when I was a kid but seeing these movies now is nostalgic yet embarrassing to be part of my collection. Under Siege is the gem here. Above the Law is second best also.

I'm conflicted about "Hard to Kill" (alternatively known as "The Seven Year Storm" - a better title, if you ask me): on one hand, it displays Steven Seagal's strengths to near-perfection, but on the other, it's just about the dumbest follow-up that Seagal could do after his smarter-than-average debut, "Above the Law". Rest assured, it's not a bad movie, and certainly belongs on any of Seagal's "best of" lists...but for many folks, that's not saying much.

In the film, Seagal is Mason Storm - a lone wolf policeman who's just made a breakthrough regarding a plot to assassinate a US senator. Before he can deliver the evidence, however, an attack on his home by the crooks leaves his wife dead, his son missing, and Storm himself in a coma. Protected by his friend and colleague Kevin O'Malley (Frederick Coffin, ... Read More

"Marked For Death" is a lot of fun. This is what drives the movie: fun. Many of Steven Seagal's other films are fun, but are driven by a different agenda: "Above the Law" was politically conscious, "On Deadly Ground" focused on environmental issues, and even "Under Siege" was a morality play, to some extent. The largely unremembered "Marked For Death", however, has no pretenses, simply the simple equation of "Seagal + Jamaican posses × guns, cars, and swords = fun fun fun". I mean, what else do you call a film with psychotic, sword-wielding cultists, enough ammo to carpet a gymnasium, cool martial arts, and Seagal in tip-top shape? - besides a personal favorite, that is

John Hatcher (Seagal) is a DEA agent who's become jaded of his work. After witnessing the death of his partner in Colombia, he resigns from the ... Read More

Yes, Seagal fans, it's true: our hero has finally released a movie to silence his critics and re-affirm his reputation as a genuine butt-kicker. Gone are the convoluted storylines, the lackluster action, and the overall badness of most of his previous DTV ventures. By some miracle, "Urban Justice" is not only well-produced technically, but also packs a tight storyline and probably the best supporting cast that Seagal has worked with in years. In a word, the film is compact - no loose ends, no un-needed characters, and no useless subplots to slow down a straight-forward, well-told story.

When his son is gunned down by an unknown assassin, Simon Ballister (Seagal) doesn't settle for the police-approved explanation of it being a random gang shooting. Packing heat and his martial arts skills, he submerges himself deep ... Read More
