Like another reviewer has already asked, why were the Atlantans so upset and surprised when they heard the lyrics to "Let's Impeach the President?" Was this particular evening the first time that these concert-goers had ever bothered to listen to the lyrics of this band's songs?

I've been a fan of this band from their beginning and I don't recall many albums released by the band or the individual members that did not contain left-leaning politically-tinged material so why the shock from the folks at this particular concert? Do the radio stations in Atlanta only play "Heart of Gold" and "Southern Cross" buy not "For What Its Worth" or "Military Madness?"

Even Lynyrd Skynyrd knew where Neil Young was coming from when he sang songs like "Southern Man" and "Alabama" ... Read More

When Gene Hackman is in a sports movie, it's impossible to see him as anyone other than coach Norman Dale from Hoosiers. Unfortunately, Keanu Reeves is more Shooter than he is Jimmy Chitwood. Nonetheless, this travesty of a sports movie was given the nod, and the rest is history.

The setup for the movie is stolen straight from Major League. A pro team has no players, but this time it's a strike instead of an insane owner. A wily, unknown coach is hired to build a team. A motley crew of assorted clichés is soon picked up.

Once again Coach Hackman amazes with his complete lack of coaching ability, as he insists on picking up a former college QB with a rag-arm to lead his team. Surely there were countless other guys in the Arena league or in the CFL who would have loved the chance at the NFL, but Hackman ... Read More

Ferris and Charlie are both charismatic high school boys with authority issues and there the similarity ends. First of all, the big difference between Charlie Bartlett and Ferris Beuhler's Day Off lies in the movies' fundamental attitudes. Ferris Beuhler, a straight-forward comedy, is about the adventures of a charming high school guy who cleverly and somewhat endearingly cons his way out of every mess and challenge that attempts to thwart his intention of taking the day off from school. Charlie Bartlett, on the other hand, is essentially a drama, dealing with the struggles of a sensitive, yet traumatized adolescent boy whose lack of effective parenting sets the stage for a crisis that ultimately changes his life. While I admit that there's a preposterous quality to the idea of a high school kid setting up shop as his school's resident therapist ... Read More

THE HUNGER is one of the best vampire movies around. The mysterious, bloodsucking Blaylocks (Catherine Deneuve as Miriam and David Bowie as John) live a non-life of luxury and debauched serial-murder / feeding. Doctor Sarah Roberts (Susan Sarandon) gets mixed up w/ the deadly duo when John begins aging at an incredibly accelerated rate. Dr. Roberts might be able to help him since she happens to be doing research into slowing the aging process. Miriam falls for Sarah and makes plans to replace the now-decrepit John. The seduction / consumation scenes between Miriam and Sarah are as elegant as they are HOT! I've always loved Ms. Sarandon's eyes, and she displays quite a bit more here! Bowie is excellent in his ill-fated role. THE HUNGER stands as a vampire masterpiece...

"Shock" is a stark and creepy piece of moody melodrama from 1946, starring the wonderful Vincent Price as a psychiatrist caught in a snare of his own making.

The film opens with a young woman checking into a San Francisco hotel to meet her husband who is finally home from the war. While waiting she sees a man in an adjacent room kill his wife in a fit of rage. The woman promptly goes into shock. When the young soldier gets to the hotel, he finds his wife with wide eyes and unable to communicate. He rings for a doctor who refers the case to an eminent psychiatrist who happens to be the murderer.

Price admits her to his private sanitarium and sedates her while conditioning her to believe that what she saw was a figment of her imagination. He almost succeeds with the help of his mistress, but the soldier is very persistent in trying to help his ... Read More
