"There's no place like home." Dorothy and her friends seek the answer to their desires in a land of dreams and nightmares. Brilliant use of color and sepia. Classic songs, incredible performances and special effects that still hold up today. One of my ten best.

I guess Seagal wanted to be a little like Eastwood here; giving a more forensic approach to his movies, a little twist here and there...and why not a little of Seagal's special recipe of bone crushing formula, it wont due any harm...right?..Wrong, this movie is the perfect example of Segal's downfall from stardom. Since Seagal isn't as thin or as fast as he used to be, he needs a co-star to have a little more screen time so Seagal can catch his breath and eat little more doughnuts. Seriously Seagal hit top bottom after this, with the exception of Fire Down Below and Exit Wounds, all of Segal's future movies following that sucked.

In Glimmer Man Seagal plays Jack Cole, an Ex government intelligence operative known as "The Glimmer Man," because he could move so quickly and quietly that ... Read More

I can't write a proper review of this film because I refused to finish it. It takes a lot to get me to pull the trigger on a horror movie in mid-play, but that threshold was met and exceeded by the BOOK OF SHADOWS: BLAIR WITCH 2.

You have to give the makes of this film some credit. With just two hours of incoherent, badly-written filmmaking, they managed to end any hopes Hollywood had for making a string of BLAIR WITCH movies. Not only that, but they actually drove the whole phenomenon which accompanied the first flick right out of the popular consciousness. I honestly haven't heard the words "Blair Witch" uttered aloud by anyone, anyone at all, since about 2001. And this movie came out in 2001. Coincidence?

The concept here involves some fans of the original film, who take ... Read More

Beverly Hills Cop was a runaway hit despite being panned by the same established critics that gave Speed 2 and Anaconda 2 thumbs up. The second installment has Axel Foley trying to solve a case involving a criminal who goes by the name "The Alphabet Killer"(played by Jurgen Prochnow) after LT. Bogomil is shot by the Alphabet Killer's henchwoman played by Brigitte Nielson. Later on Axel stumbles on a plot involving oil and a lot of guns. Beverly Hills Cop II is just as funny as the first one but is more visually pleasing. Whether it is the streets of Beverly Hills or an oil field out of town, the picture is sharp. Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold's character, Billy, provide most of the laughs. John Ashton's Taggert is okay on this one. Brigitte Nielson probably played her best role in here as The Alphabet Killer's ... Read More

I grew up watching Shakespeare The Animated Tales on Discovery Kids Latin America... back when it was for kids and not babies.
Anyway, it's nice to get to see it again, and some of the animation is pretty cool (e.g. Hamlet episode). I also have a predilection for the stop motion episodes.
Despite the decent digital transfer of the video, the sound is poor. I have to watch the discs on the highest volume possible, and even then it's hard to listen to it in parts.
Also, the $70+ price tag is a turn-off, when even 13-episode series range from $20-35.

While any film adaptation of a novel necessarily loses scenes and condenses characters, Complicity (or Retribution in the US) stays true to the heart of the story told by Iain Banks back in the early 90s. Jonny Lee Miller (of Trainspotting) does a fine job as Cameron Colley, a cynical leftist investigative reporter in Scotland who becomes linked with a series of deaths which have occurred across the country after he had written a scathing article which called for the violent deterrence of so-called white collar criminals such as corrupt politicians, arms dealers, and corporate raiders. Is Colley the killer or has he been framed? This film is a stylish mix of suspense, mystery, humor, and a little bit of kink, and I highly recommend it and the novel it was based on, Complicity by Iain Banks.

I can't believe this was made in 2002. It seemed more like 1992 with the friend's stone aged computer and the roommate going "What's a screen name?" He was like "Chat room? What's that?" "Internet? Never heard of it. Is it new?" I mean COME ON!!!

This movie was a lesson on how to use the internet by someone who has never used it before. This movie is just stupid.
