I got this movie for my birthday... I ordered it like a week before it.. and it came the day before so I could enjoy it with my friends for my b-day.
Awesome choice and I am so glad I finally have the movie that I love so much!! I grew up on this movie watching it everytime it was on the Disney channel. It brings back so many great memories.

Thanks!

This movie is a perfect example of an over blown, over the top, over budget sequel. When will Hollywood learn that bigger explosions and bigger budget doesn't make a better sequel, that's why most sequels fail to be even loyal to the first. That is exactly what happens here. Director John Woo, best known for his fascinating heroic bloodshed movies (The Killer, a better tomorrow, face/off)tries to brings his wonders to this flick. Unfortunately he fails to bring them in right to this sequel. The problem here is that it lacks the goodies of the first. The main issue is the mood; it is completely different from the first film. Whereas The first M:I had a nice blend of espionage and action, this one is an exaggerated/story less sequel. It felt more like a bad James Bond movie then it felt like a good ... Read More

Not to be missed!
2 solo climbers take part in a daring rescue which earns them a chance to achieve a dream - climbing Mount Chicanagua in the Chilean Andes.
2 very different characters now team up to reach their goal.
Derrick is a take-life-to-the-edge, I-love-me-who-do-do-you-love? person, while Michael takes life as it comes and has a strong relationship with God & his family.
Michael says in answer to Derrick's disgust at finding he is a Christian "I don't preach, but I do speak my mind!" The film is convincing, but not "preachy" with a strong message of sacrificial love & forgiveness.

First, being an attorney, I was disappointed with the handling of the courtroom scenes in this movie. Besides these being procedurally nonsensical, much could have been done that wasn't.
When you have a movie with this topic, why wouldn't you have a voir dire scene when the lawyers are trying to pick a jury? You would, but it isn't there. Great conflict could have been created in a jury selection scene. But it wasn't.
The exoricsm scenes were really Linda Blair Lite, and were less horrifying than a Richard Simmons exercise video--so if you are a horror fan, you will be disappointed.
Now the acting was good, but not great. It was conventional, expected. How much more interesting would the priest have been if he had some self doubt. How much more interesting would the defense attorney ... Read More

This film is visually breathtaking, has a wonderful flow and the actors are better than I expected.
Also, the extras on the Criterion DVD is good, I especially liked the commentary about how certain scenes were made (a lot of effort was spent on filming in natural light which was risky but produced a very special quality).
Well worth owning and re-watching.

I first saw this back in college after I had pledged, though my experiance was no where near what was depicted in the movie. My other sorority sisters say the movie and we began quoting the movie "you want to win the sisterhood award" and later used it to show our anti-hazing education program to show new members what would not happen to them. Not all Greeks haze, but every Greek should watch this movie!
