Come watch this movie to learn about the heroes of World War II. They truly are the greatest generation. Without their sacrifice and heroism we as a nation would not exist nor the citizenry of Europe. A must see for those who want to know what WWII was like in both U.S. and abroad. Highly recommended! 1999's "Office Space" has become something of a cult classic, with office workers everywhere able to recite their favorite lines from this spot-on comedy. Ron Livingston stars as Peter, a computer software worker locked into a dreary cubical existance, suffering a condescending and exploitative boss and a meaningless life away from the job.

Desperate for a change, Peter tries hypnotherapy. When the session goes awry, Peter is left locked into a relaxed mode that allows him to cheerfully skip work, chase the girl of his dreams, and subvert the routine of his office. Cocktail is a good but not great movie. You might even call it a bad movie, but it is thoroughly enjoyable, kind of a Flashdance or Showgirls, but with drinks instead of dancing. It is a classic Horatio Alger tale, a rags-to-riches, work hard and you'll achieve the American Dream kind of fable. There is the obligatory scene where a teacher, bitter about failure in the real world, takes it out on his students. There is the mentor who helps him achieve the American Dream. And there is the boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, and boy gets her back aspect. There is also the part where he makes a bargain with the devil, a rich older woman, but after being thoroughly humiliated, he tries to salvage what remains of his dignity and self respect. It has all this, plus Cruise plays a very entertaining ... Read More

This movie is absolutely great. It has great humor, action, and drama...not to mention, Nicholas Cage is actually good in it. Yes, the same Nicholas Cage guilty of having the worst fake accent EVER (in Con-Air) is really believable (and funny, in the case of Donald Kaufman) in this movie. The rest of the cast is also great, and the script is just plain brilliant. You can tell Kaufman had fun writing this one, and it is a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

You can admire the source material and respect a tough battle won without actually appreciating the end result (ie, the film). There is just too little material and stretched to the limit. The sensation of been there, seen that is just too strong.

Trent Walker (Vince Vaughn), Sue (Patrick Van Horn), Rob (Ron Livingston), Charles (Alex Désert), and Mike Peters (Jon Favreau) are all struggling actors. Their social scene and lifestyle is totally retro, based on the days when Frank, Sammy, and Dean ruled Vegas. They have their own style of dress, lingo, and attitude--but all recycled from the days of Frank, Sammy, and Dean-O. Their scene, The Cocktail Nation, flourished for a while in the mid 90's. The script was written by Jon Favreau, who plays Mikey, and it was based on their own struggles in Hollywood. Some of Vince Vaughn's best lines were things he said verbatim in real life that were transcribed by Jon Favreau, who wrote the script. Like, there is a great scene where Trent Walker regales some Vegas waitresses with tales of his auditions. It is a ... Read More

Maria Bello is 1 of the sexiest & most interesting actresses around. She's not a superstar, but consistently delivers the goods in films not worthy of her talents. Perhaps the only vehicle I've ever seen that did her talents justice is the cult tv series Nowhere Man- where she appeared in an episode as the lead character's love interest. In The Cooler, she portrays Natalie Belisario- a Vegas cocktail waitress at the Shangri-La casino, hired by casino boss Shelly Kaplow (Alec Baldwin) to seduce the casino's `cooler'- fellow hired to bring bad luck to people on hot streaks- Bernie Lootz (William H. Macy) into not quitting his job at the end of a week, after paying himself out of Kaplow's debt.
Basically, Bello's the only real reason to watch the film- her acting as the waitress who falls in love with Bernie ... Read More
