My Husband gave me this complete set as a Christmas gift. I was so excited...until I got to season 3 and two discs didn't work. I immediately started playing them all and found similar non-readable discs in seasons 4,5,& 6. My husband emailed Amazon immediately, but was told that it was past the date for exchange due to defect.
This was a lesson learned: Even if your purchase is a gift, OPEN IT! Make sure all of the discs work or you will be stuck having to purchase whole seasons for just one disc.
The extras in this set are awesome!

While there was a pretty long wait between the original Children of the Corn and its sequel, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice, the wait for the third film was pretty short. Apparently buoyed by the success of the second film comes this sequel titled Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest. It wasn't released all that long after the previous sequel. Given that there are seven films in the Children of the Corn series, the quality of the various sequels is debatable. This particular one, Urban Harvest, isn't so bad.

The soundtrack and opening credits get this film off to a good start. While the setting is mostly based in Chicago, some parts of the movie take place in Gatlin which is where the original movie was based. The premise of this Children of the Corn (COTC, for short) entry is that ... Read More

...and a tank top can't save this turkey. If ever you couldn't sleep and turned on the Sci-Fi Channel at 3AM, you might have seen this god-awful mess. I've seen parts of it a couple times (what is wrong with the programming department on the Sci-Fi Channel??) and was hoping the DVD version would be better. No, it isn't. By the way, Daphnee Duplaix (the obligatory bitchy girl in every slasher film) is Miss July 1997.

When I first read the description, I thought the movie would mainly consist of a large flame creature burning a city while a bunch of firemen and FBI guys frantically tried to come up with different ways to stop it. It didn't sound like the grestest movie idea I'd heard but I was buying a few other creature feature flicks and thought I may as well order something more unusual.

Thankfully, this movie is much better than I expected. The plot had a lot more going on than just having a creature killing a bunch of people. The central characters were a lot deeper than I expected. It had decent atmosphere when it was needed.

On another note, this is the only work of William Shatner I've ever seen. I can see why people respect him.

Finally, cover art of the title picture is kind of ... Read More

This one will get reviews all over the place because it doesn't fit any mold. It's not the regular glossy splatter horror we're used to. It has no over the top, technological edge special effects. And the production values seem. . .spare-- purposefully barebone.
Yet, it's Different. Think of it not as a Horror "movie"-- but like a Horror "Play". Yes, the bodies start piling up in a mondo-funny way, but the actors are not playing this as 'Camp'. It's contained, inward-spiralling madness.
Best watched Late Night-- after Midnight.
Time Travel, Torture, Mind Control, cold blooded murder and Nazis who may or may NOT be dead.
This one has the feel of a new cult classic to me.
