I first saw Top Gun in the theater when I was in the 7th grade. It was AWESOME! Watching it almost 25 years later, I can't figure out what the hype was about. The story and aerial dogfights made for good Saturday matinee popcorn fare, but it wouldn't hold up in today's market. As far as the Hi-Def version of the movie goes, I was happy. The aerial scenes weren't shot in Panavision and you can tell the film quality wasn't as good. The rest of the picture is pretty great, as is the sound. The Blu-ray version uses the same transfer.

Total Recall is certainly imaginative. I've seen it twice now, and I STILL don't understand it. I think you could watch this film a few times, and still have questions that you needed answered. But it plays with your mind, and leaves you racking your brains, wondering if what you just saw actually happened.

In my opinion, this is not Arnie's best movie. Maybe it's the character I'm not sure. And normally I love Arnie in movies. Just didn't get this one. Mind you, I don't often understand films that are based on Philip K Dick stories - does anybody? This is based on 'We'll Remember It For You Wholesale'.

Arnie plays Doug Quaid, a construction worker, who's bored with his uneventful life, but not with his nymphomaniac wife (Sharon Stone). For some reason, he's fascinated by ... Read More

the movie is just a reworking of an old hollywood gimmick. we've seen the same thing in 'fight club'(1999), 'memento'(2000) and 'the secret window'(2004). and the story is much, much older. it was pobably old when l ron hubbard used it in his story 'fear'(1940).

it is just a reworking of an old gimmick, with all of the usual dark music, sound effects, camera angles, and cliches from central casting. it evens rips off the red car gimmick from 'the sixth sense'(1999).

i realize a lot of people enjoy these things. but it's just the same old, same old, same old. it blows. sue me.

This movie appears to be a possible transfer from a vhs tape. The film is not clear and the color is terrible. Not much care was put in placing this movie on dvd. When there is a closeup of the cast speaking, their lips do not move with the words. I was very disappointed in the quality of this dvd. This movie is good and should have looked better on dvd. Two stars was given because it is a good movie. I have this movie on vhs, and could have saved my money by not buying the bad dvd. Save your money.

V: THE FINAL BATTLE was the much anticipated follow-up to NBC's 1983 mega hit V THE MINISERIES, a science fiction alien invasion piece which doubled as a World War II/Holocaust allegory.

Jane Badler returns as the evil Diana along with Marc Singer as the heroic cameraman turned resistance fighter, Mike Donavan, and Faye Grant as the medical student turned leader of the resistance Juliet Parrish. In Part One, we see the climactic takeover of the Visitors' historical televised address to the world by the resistance in which Juliet Parrish personally exposes John the supreme commander on international television. Part Two shows the tortuous conversion of Julie as well as the highly anticipated birth of Robin's...twins. Part Three shows the deliverance of the miraculous "Red Dust" into the hands of the ... I felt like this movie did a lot of typical things movies of this sort do: bad things are going to happen to these plucky guys, so let's give you some back story so you sympathize with them. Some of the back story in this movie was pretty cheesy. The movie picks up once the storm rolls in, but the weather guy at the TV station in Boston commenting on the meteorology to bring you along was pretty cheesy, too. Everyone has a pretty good idea how this ends up, but I'll try not to spoil it. There is a pretty good side story with a Coast Guard ship and an Air Force Reserve helicopter. The movie condenses down a couple of stories from the book, and takes some other liberties that have made other viewers skeptical about this plot. Yes, the Air Force helicopter really went out on a rescue in the storm, and it did in-flight refueling, ... Read More
