I just watched my first American Girl movie day-before-yesterday and I immediately had to go and find some more. I haven't been let down. This is my second movie in the series to see and my Mother and I both had tears welling in our eyes throughout the entire film. It is sweet, relevant to modern day issues even, and it shows the importance of friendship and family. I like how the movies encourage involvement in causes. So far the ones I've seen have all been perfectly clean and wonderful for family viewing. I really think they are suited for all ages, as the stories are so well done. I recommend this movie and recommend it some more. I can't wait to see more in the series.

93 Snazzes on the 100 Point Snazz-O-Scale! An excellent and original adaption.

An American Christmas Carol is a superb and original adaption of the Dickens Christmas classic. Henry Wrinkler stars as the Scrooge character, Benedict Slade. He does a great job as a hardnosed old man, and he does look convincing in aged make up. The story takes place in New England America, during the Great Depression.
-An American Christmas Carol is unique in many ways. Slade doesn't believe he's evil or even a miser; he's just a practical businessman. On Christmas Eve he and his employee, Thatcher, go out in their truck to repossess items - to take back what is rightly his, Slade says. When carolers show up at Slade's door, he doesn't chase them away with a stick like Scrooge did, he congratulates ... Read More

This is a skilfully directed and performed piece of leftist propaganda that holds its punches until the film is 80% complete. Then Rob Reiner unloads on you in a presidential speech that contains all the extreme and often crude left wing views that dominate contemporary Hollywood. The huge talents of Bening and Douglas are wasted. The film's writer deserves a special raspberry award for muddying an otherwise unbelievable script. All in all, this film is just the ticket for Michael Moore fans. For people even slightly higher on the intellectual ladder, The American President is a disappointing waste of time.

During the second act of the first episode it happens...that 2-minute or more long tracking shot of the partners striding through headquarters shot from the waist up with no cuts, both men acting with their posture, their arms, their stride, their faces, their voices--the whole thing. It's my favorite thing about this old show. There are enough interesting angles and shots to make the direction interesting much of the time, and then there's a scene like this in almost every episode where the actors spout a few pages of dialog and just act for all they are worth with no close-ups or pauses or quick cuts. It's such a refreshing change from modern shows. San Francisco is a glorious backdrop, and Malden and Douglas are great together. The stories are 50 minutes long and develop slowly. What wonderful ... Read More

great, enjoyable movie. beautiful soundtrack. just wish r. donner had done more with the man of steel just like g. reeves. foiling a bank robbery, bending steel bars, jumping out of a window, fight scenes with the bad guys. the scene when the bullets bounced off superman in the tunnel should have been left in the theatrical version. it's the 30th anniversary of the 1978 movie. i'm sure WB will re-release an expanded edition with all the deleted scenes that were never shown. i have VHS copies of the TV version off from ABC TV from 1980. lots of nice scenes to see. enjoy.****

Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" chronicles the rise of unbridled greed, of reckless gambling with the other people's money, of soulless financiers whose God is cash. Some of the details are dated now -- the opening shots of the World Trade Towers, the IBM dumb terminals everywhere, Motorola "brick" wireless phones, the dollar amounts thrown about as astronomical in 1985 -- but the story behind the details and the motivations of the characters are as good a lesson as you're going to find. As a matter of fact, in the extras it is revealed that the director and cast used Bear Stearns as the model for their portrayals. How ironic then that the "Wall Street" tagline, "Greed is good," should end up eulogizing the era of narcissistic excess that the movie portrays.

As the story starts we are treated to a realistic western and look back at the cover to be sure we have the correct DVD. Yep it is the correct one.

A romance novelist, Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner of "Body Heat" 1981 fame) wants to fall in love with the type of hero she created in her novels. Fat chance she has hanging around her New York City apartment.

Perchance her sister Elaine (Mary Ellen Trainor), looking for the other body parts of Elaine's dismembered husband, is kidnapped and ransomed by ruthless people, (Danny DeVito and Zack Norman.)
This just happens to be in Columbia. It seems that there are other interested parties that are down right vicious.

Will Joan Wilder find the type of romance she writes about or just a snot?

Prepare for a great adventure.
