Some friends and I enjoyed this movie very much. I purchased five copies, so that should say something about this wonderful movie.

DO NOT get this for superlative acting or cinematic brilliance. It's just SO silly that it is priceless and highly enjoyable. The villains are a bit weak especially the Joker, but the Dynamic Duo are as camp and corny as ever. Could have been a little bit shorter. Otherwise classic silly entertainment - the shark and bomb scenes are so ridiculous they have to be seen to be believed. Hilarious!

I've seen this film several times and I always find it disturbing because it strikes me as classic Hollywood in that though the Civil War is central to the film, at no point is slavery ever mentioned. Which is to say that the film turns on the reconciliation of North and South and their mutual interests, which come to the fore as they are fighting Mexicans. Though I must say that the scene with Wayne and Hudson swigging bourbon as they recount the war is entertaining, ultimately, the film's unwillingness to explore the nature of their difference--which could be their differing notions of whether people should be property (albeit John Wayne's films generally portray his relations with people of color as paternalistic at best), is left unexplored, as if the Civil War was some kind of minor family squabble ... I think this movie was made before Ron Howard played the role of "Opie Taylor" on the Andy Griffith Show, regardless, he is ADORABLE in this movie. He plays the role very well as a little boy growing up without a mother as he tries to fix his father up with dates. It like an earlier version of Sleepless in Seattle. It's a good wholesome "family" movie to watch.

Batman - Return to the Batcave
Was good to watch, remembered seeing in on TV. Liked how they showed how they met and what their lives were like back then. Was interesting, a bit campy, but interesting.

This is a good Irwin Allen documentary developed for television. Billy Mumy and June Lockhart host this history of Mr. Allen from his early days in radio to his later role as producer of television shows and movies. All of his well-known shows and movies are reviewed; however some of his less known shows are overlooked. The guest appearances by the robot and Dr. Smith are over the top and too camp.

This always seemed like a sister film to Evil Roy Slade and, if you liked that one, you'll probably be happy with this, especially at the price. It's been a long time since I've seen this, so the rating is a guess, and it was a TV movie to begin with, so the quality is probably at Slade-level as well (okay with a standard-def display). A nice treat for lovers of comic westerns and/or John Astin.
