this movie drags after the first act. the movie feels like its 4 or five hours long. so its amazing to me that they recut the movie to make it longer. many people have commented that this movie is PC becasue the white men are bad guys and the native americans are noble savages. I completely disagree. Instead, I see it as the Indians are in trouble and cant find buffalo or fight off the neighbor tribes until the magic white man comes in and shows them how its done. so dont buy this movie if you want to be entertained. or teach history. or show any sort of flattering view of native americans. this is pulp escapist fantasy - I would catagorize it with early 20th century pulp with a dash of late 20th century.

I love this movie, however amazon's site says the blu ray release here is unrated. It's not. The box has it rated R. This is not the Director's Cut. Don't waste your money on this edited release.

Reservoir Dogs served notice that a new auteur was on the scene, but though a good first effort for Quentin Tarantino, it was just a taste of things to come; and it seems like an experiment that was only partialy successful. Though it is often imitated, spoofed even like for instance a scene in 'Swingers,' it seems like it uses a lot of gimmicks, and even though said gimmicks are pretty much Tarantino's style, in later works, i.e. 'Pulp Fiction,' he is able to better integrate those gimmicks into a seamless tapestry. It seemed very fresh and original at the time, but it may be getting a bit stale now, past its sell-by date. I rented this when it was new. Liked it very much except for the language. It's about as bad as it gets. I've heard and used it all but the constant use of the 'MF' word ruined it. Liked it so well I would have bought it if the language wasn't so stupid.
