As an admirer of the original film since seeing it in the original three-screen Cinerama process when I was a kid, I hate to inform you all that, although released in Europe first, it was NOT the first feature film in the three-screen Cinerama process (although it was the last). George Pal's "The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm" was the first -- released in 1962 in the three-screen process. I still have the original road-show souvenir book and it states it clearly. "Bros. Grimm" was the first, "How the West was Won" was the second -- then, because of so much revenue being generated from its "ordinary theatrical release" the company was forced to make a compromise: A single-lens, single-curved screen process for future Cinerama productions. This was initiated with Stanley Kramer's ... Read More

When Pollyanna, Hayley Mills, is paralyzed, she is faced with the same
question that she had posed others with her "glad game." Are you going
my way or am I going yours? Enjoy that Pollyanna moment when a town of
chandelier shakers such as Karl Malden convert into a town of rainbow
riders. They welcome her back into again believing in the shared ride.

My tape of Patton finally couldn't cut it anymore. It just wore out. I bought the DVD and the picture on my new high def TV was great. I've seen the movie dozens of times and this is the best since the original on the movie screen. The companion DVD reviewing the original shooting of the film is great also. This is a very good package.

I hate to admit it, but I never really got the whole Brando thing. Then again, I really only had The Godfather to base that on-and I'm not really a mafia-movie chick. This is film making at its finest. Brando shines-and was clearly a pretty boy in his time. Strong script and great performances by both Brando and Steiger. While I like the "contender" scene, I think it paled to the scene when Terry is trying to connect with Edie in the bar/cafe scene. Overall-great film. If you haven't had a chance to see it-do yourself a favor.

You can not beat Rosalind Russell in this film she is a powerhouse with an amazing supporting cast! The only thing is I would have choosen a singer to dub her with a higher voice. I like Peters more than Lupone so that explains that. This movie takes you on a wonderful two and a half hour ride. This musical works because it is solid from start to finish. Ms. Wood is constantly complementing the domineering mother. The different periods of the ride are all equally entertaining. No wonder this story keeps getting told on stage on Broadway, it is truly great. Thank you for getting it right Hollywood with the most talented Russell, i just love her. No one like her today or ever in my opinion!

I continue to be impressed by young Brando. I grew up hearing how much an acting genius Brando was in his hey day and I thought for the most part he was over-rated. Course, I was coming from the angle of the older Brando. Now after watching On the Waterfront and now Streetcar, I've been more than blown away. Brando absolutely deserves his accolades. In streetcar, he plays Stanley to the tee. You don't catch him acting at all. You whole heartedly believe him as this animal of a husband and you despise him for what he's doing to an obvious delusional woman. I even feel for Stella being caught between two different people she loved. I agree the material is stunning for its time and I continue to be impressed with Kazan's direction. This movie deserved all its accolades. If you haven't seen it, you're doing ... Read More

Great early Steve McQueen movie. I saw this at the theatre when I was very young and it is still one of my favorite. Great acting and supporting cast. If you are a fan of Steve, you need this one.

Ecellent remastering job on this series! If it wasn't for the classic cars and leisure suits, I would have thought it was shot in 2008!
