If you wish Lon Chaney were still alive and acting, or that he could have tried to sing a little bit when he was, this is the film for you. The sets and costumes are opulent, the casting is spot-on and the effects are dazzling. Most of all, the film owes its brilliance to the dark genius of Tim Burton. This is the film he was born to make! Oh, and don't fear the ghoulish aspects you might have heard about - this film offers plenty of humor.

This one captures the magic of Dahl's book perfectly. Any kid would love the imagery. The original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" has plenty of imagination, but there are moments where it gets overly tedious. For instance, it took way too long to get into the factory itself. Then there were the unnecessary musical interludes ("Cheer Up Charly"? Puh-lease.) In this new iteration, however, you will notice that they get to the factory as soon as possible. it's ok, i mainly bought it to complete the set. it isn't my favorite movie in the set.

Ok LOVE the movies and in a triple pack its SO worth it.... however, I'm in Australia and as a consequence I use an Australian player. The first two films work, BUT the third does not. The Special Features disc does... but not the movie. In the same delivery I also got Nightmare Before Christmas which also doesn't work. I don't know why they don't work but I'm assuming that it has to do with the release dates. Have Disney begun coding their blu rays?? I know fox does...

FILM REVIEW (DVD review below): Who says a theme park ride can't be a good movie? Tell that to Disney because their ride "Pirates of the Caribbean" has spawned one of the best film franchises ever and it all started here. "The Curse of the Black Pearl" was a hit in 2003 and to this day, I watch it all the time. It's fun, funny, action packed, and enthralling and never leaves you bored. It's an instant classic. The story is interesting and engaging from the beginning till the end. It's a very good life lesson based on a true story. It showed a "big" drug dealer can make tons of money. However it also shows crime does not pay and there is no honor among thieves. They set up each other. They stole from each other, etc. It's absolutely worth viewing.

The second installment was well worth watching. This swashbuckling tale continues in the best of Disneys new style. You want something to watch with your kids with no foul language they'll like, this will fit the bill. If you liked the first movie, this is just as good. And wait until you see the next installment. Things are just beginning for Jack and the crew!

Loved this movie. It's cute and simple, yet has a lot of messages about life and people and religious dogmas. Total chick flick. My boyfriend didn't make it through.
