I've only watched one of these. I can't even remember which one. It did not leave much on an impression. The acting is horrible. It was a waste of money.

I purchased this movie because of my favorite British actor, John Carson. I was actually pretty pleased with this movie. It is a "video" movie, shot on a sound stage using video rather than film and rather bland and washed out with minimal sets and furniture -- no shadows, no "realism," but still a great movie. I didn't think I would outlast it, but I found I couldn't shut it off -- I found it rather good. It's a bit long, drawn out and at times tedious, you really have to pay attention to who's who and who's doing what, but, again, it's pretty good. Makes me think about what living in that period of time would have been like and how classified people were.

DVD : Carry On Teacher/Carry On Constable
First saw this many years ago and laughed and laughed at the picture of teaching it portrayed. I still love it, but the advances in cinema production and writing make this a little out-dated.

DVD : Carry on, Constable [Region 2]
Carry On Constable was a turning point in the series as it marked the first apperance of Sid James. Surprisingly he doesn't play his usual rogue-like, lecherous old man role as he always did in later entries, instead playing a fair, down-to-earth, good old fashioned policeman who is continually undermined by his superior. Still his performance was a breeze of fresh air in the series. This is basically Carry On Sergeant transferred to a police station. None of it is beleavable of course, but there is certainly plenty of fun to endure and this is perharps one of the best of the black and white Carry On's. Leslie Phillips, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey and Kenneth Connor, all play the blatantly incompetent trainee police-officers who make a mockery of virtually every task they're given but all ... Even as a 7 year old kid whenever I 'heard' my father play a Richard Burton film I knew it was him. His voice always got me before his acting did.
I remember seeing 'Absolution' in my early teen years. I wanna see it again to understand what I could not. But more, why it had got me (?) Was it the suspense with a dark gothic look? Today it stands to be a cult movie, so to speak, (that goes for the movie '1984' too). I believe being told 'Absolution' was banned upon theatrical release in the UK. If it is not true it did do the trick for a young teen kid curious not only to see a R rated movie but a banned one too! But I do know as a suspense, this was good! Richard did give a powerful performance. Then again if you are a Richard Burton fan you smile to be proud of him, even though the Academy ... Read More

DVD : The Stone Tape
A group of corporate scientists, looking to develop a new medium for recording data, confronts the ultimate message - the horror of death itself. Led by Peter Brock (a womanizing corporate scoundrel who knows how to rouse his team's spirits) the scientists of Ryan Electronics move into a 19th century manor to convert it into their new lab. They soon find that their new digs are haunted by a ghost with a limited repertoire - the scream of a 19th century chambermaid just moments from death. At first, Brock treats the ghost academically - a problem that he can throw his technical resources at. The potential becomes more lucrative when Brock's readings suggest that the phantom scream - detectable by human minds but not their machines - isn't so much a ghost as a ghostly recording somehow imprinted ...
