Well here it is five weeks since I ordered this movie & I still haven't received it! I also haven't had a response from seller or Zodiac Movies to my request in tracking purchase. MY OPINION....never doing this online again. They were quick to charge my account on June 2, the date I placed the order & my credit card company paid them, but I NEVER received merchandise. Shame on you.

I loved this movie the first time I saw it and enjoy it every time I watch it. It is an entertaining historical view of women's suffrage and puts into perspective what lengths some women went to for the right to vote.

Inspiring performances by the entire cast made this movie sparkle! I didn't know what to expect, frankly I had low hopes. But I love Hilary Swank and it sounded like it could be a different movie, not the same old same old. I loved it! Everyone shone. Very compelling tale. Well done.

You can't go wrong with the Karate Kid. Only problem is some of the discs are mislabled. KK3 is actually the next KK. I was able to correct this with a permanent marker.

I think Hilary Swank did an excellent job with this role. But, in my opinion, the movie seemed to be thrown together. I had heard it was a good movie and it got a B, but it didn't make a whole lot of sense. Perhaps if didn't feel so rushed, it would have been better.

Before I start, let me distinguish "story" from "plot" via the famous example proffered by E.M. Forster.

Story: "The King died, and then the Queen died."

Plot: "The King died, and then the Queen died of heartache."

What separates plot from story is the element of causality. Story refers to events and plot implies causal connections that "drive" the narrative. Although plot generally exists in even the most avant-garde filmmaking or purest examples of neo-Realism, despite their pretensions to the contrary, it is restricted to a level of simplicity. Films like MDB are about events that happen to people and how these people react to these events. They are character driven, sometimes event driven, but not plot driven. But whatever plot causality does exist is ... Read More

Insomnia is a good thriller thats worth buying for many reasons:

Its a top notch cast. Al Pacino gives one of his his finest late performances as the detective who can't sleep investigating a murder. Robin Williams matches Pacino in his second great role that year (see One Hour Photo for the other), and the always good Hilary Swank gives a very good performance supporting the two main leads.

The director is Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige), who seems to have a natural talent for these type of films. He does a fine job with the actors as well as capturing the sometimes haunting nature of the Alaskan landscape. Nolan is helped by a taught script, and with a running time of less than 2 hours, you will find it difficult to sleep through.

I haven't seen ... Read More

Really... what can you say about this movie? It is cheesy, not well acted, and not well scripted... but indeed, it is a load of fangs and fun (be sure to notice Ben Affleck's small part on the basketball court).

Sam Rami, better known for directing the "Evil Dead" and "Spiderman" series of films, did a gem of a movie several years ago with a cast that included two Oscar winners (Cate Blanchett and Hilary Swank) and Oscar-nominated Greg Kinnear. Keanu Reeves, in one of his better performances, is in it, along with Giovanni Ribisi, Katie Holmes and Michael Jeter. What an all-star cast! If that wasn't enough, Oscar winner, Billy Bob Thornton, and Tom Epperson wrote the script. What they created was something very special. It wasn't so much a horror movie as a thriller centered on a widowed mother of three, living in a small southern town and who's able to see the future of other people and the turmoil this eventually creates when the town's promiscuous debutante is murdered. In many ways, I consider The Gift to be Rami's ... Read More
