Wow !!! What a wonderful transfer either for image and sound ! watched on Plasma screen (with HDMI connexion) and through Dolby Digital 7.1 ("Adventure" YAMAHA DSP type), it's impressive!Of course I knew this movie in Cinerama Theater (EMPIRE HALL in PARIS). Congratulations for "3 screen" separate lines treatment which make possible a domestic watch in good conditions. the original version was interesting in Cinerama theater but a torture on a domestic screen! The "Cinerama adventure" bonus includes very persuasive highlights of the "smile-box" version available only in Blue-Ray edition. I don't have Blue-Ray player yet but after seeing that, I think about !!!

This is a movie that entertains throughout. It has a bit of history, a lot of legend, and nonstop action.

It features Paul Newman and Robert Redford as Butch Cassidy and 'The Sundance Kid' respectively. These two were part of the notorious 'Wild Bunch' gang that operated in the west during the late 1800s and early years of the 1900s. They primarily did bank and train robberies. Their claim to fame was that they did not kill people during their crimes.

During the course of the film, Butch and Sundance end up getting separated from the rest of their gang. They are being hunted relentlessly and finally decide to relocate to South America. I will limit my comments about the rest of this show to avoid spoiling it.

The ending is one that makes a great movie climax, ... Read More

Upon its 1971 release, "Harold and Maude" died a quick commercial death & it didn't help its cause that most reviews were lousy at best; Variety wrote that it "has all the fun and gaiety of a burning orphanage." Variety (in 1971) couldn't find fun & gaiety even if it had a map.

"Harold and Maude" is dark, funny, & great. I won't give anything away, but I will say that subject matter includes love, death, suicide & lives not lived. "You gotta go get it, it's yer life go live it" so....by all means, crash the hearse.

I think of Paul Newman as an artist because he made me realize that there is an art to acting, when it is done as well as he did it. THese are three of the best because he was working with other great artists, in the cast and the crew.

The Bottom Line:

Vertigo begins as a typical Hitchcock movie, with a typical "aww-shucks" performance from James Stewart, before turning everything on its head and emerging as a great film about obsession that stands as one of the best films "The Master" ever made and perhaps one of the best of all time.

All of the cast members do a great job in keeping these two westerns entertaining. If you've only seen one of these movies, you're missing out.

If you are teaching media concepts (lighting, drama, characters, play, scenes) then this is a great movie to complement your lesson. As a high-school teacher for English foundations, I try my best to expose my students to the literature their peers in regular English classes receive. I must utilize movies as a visual aide supplement to help them connect with the characters, setting, dialogue... I strongly recommend using this dvd to support your curriculum to teach on all levels of student learning (auditory, kinesthetic, visual).
