The Matrix revolutionized the action genre with its amazing storytelling and incredible action sequences. The Matrix: Reloaded continues the legacy of incredible action sequences; however, the storytelling has suffered over these years. In the previous film, action complimented the ideas the plot needed explained; the notion of matrix reality vs. actual reality was enforced greatly thanks to fights that culminated in short lines ("You think that's air your breathing?"). Reloaded faces the challenge of developing new ideas about the matrix as well as the reality outside it. I enjoy old movies. I saw this one on television and had to have it! The price was within my budget and there were plenty of copies in stock.

Though this film strayed from actual facts, it was well made with it's special effects from the 1930's. All in all I enjoyed it once again after all the years that I first saw it and would recommend this film to be seen - owned by folks who like golden oldies.

Since I was teaching the short story I wanted to also show the film. Loved seeing young Harry Belefonte and early Zero Mostel but the film does not have impact of the short story and drags. The musical score is really irritating. The two main characters were actually miscast, according to the story. Karol Verson

SEPARATE BUT EQUAL (1991-PG) is one of my favorite movies. Nominated for seven Emmy Awards. It is about the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court Case. Starring Sidney Poitier as Thurgood Marshall, the lead attorney for the NAACP, Burt Lancaster, as John W. Davis, arguing the other side, and Richard Kiley, as Chief Justice Earl Warren, it is a powerful story about one of the most important Supreme Court Decisions in the history of our country. The first half is set in South Carolina and depicts the human side of that tragic law called 'separate but equal'. They were separate but anything BUT equal. The second half is the legal battle. Haha. That's just a joke. There is only part 6. That was supposed to be a joke too. Now you don't know about this movie because there was actually a cover-up initiated by The Cos himself because he was so embarrassed about it! After you sit through the painful, hand drawn credit-sequence you get to watch the only part of the film worth watching! This is extremely handy because you now no longer have to watch the rest of the movie. They were nice enough to put the funniest parts of the film, spliced together at the beginning of the film for us! In a split second we see: a tank car soaring through the air, Cos in a spacesuit dancing ballet w/ pink ballet slippers, and Cos in a janitor's uniform riding an ostrich through a roaring ball o' fire!!!
