If you've never seen it, definitely check it out. It has aged surprisingly well and is good for a lot of laughs. But if you are like me, and grew up seeing this (i.e., its severely edited version) on TV once a year or so throughout the 90s, you might be in for a shock. All the jokes are still there, but there is loads of profanity. So much so that you might no longer recognize it as one of your long-lost favorites. I have no problem with profanity when it is used comedically, or as a characterization device, but it's probably overdone in this movie. Just shows how the MPAA has changed by the decade in its approach to ratings.

i was hoping for the box to come with the product, but it did not. that is fine though. not that big of a deal. got to my house fast which was nice.

While I can't quite give this movie 5 stars, it is a really interesting combination of several elements. ('Phantom of the Opera,' 'Faustus,' 'Picture of Dorian Gray,' 70s styles, 70s music, and even an interesting foreshadow of 80s music.) The movie starts innocently enough with a 50s style song. (Though the lyrics to the song kind of foreshadow the tragic end.) We then see Phil asking his boss Swan to wreck a star that he feels double crossed him. (Immediately, the dark characters of Phil and Swan are revealed to us.) Swan then notices the naive and innocent Winslow; he decides he wants Winslow's music. (To make a long story short, Winslow gets arrested; he escapes, but gets disfigured. Only at the end do we truly discover how disfigured he became. One injury that we don't find ... Read More

The acting is superb; and the cast is full of top-notch actors: Ellen's mother Kate Gulden is played by Meryl Streep; and Kate's father George Gulden is played by William Hurt. Look also for a fine performance by Tom Everett Scott as Ellen's brother Brian Gulden. It was fun to see this movie again. I like it. It is pretty light and funny, good entertainment.

This was on our 21 year old daughter's Christmas wish list. She was delighted since it reminded her of her childhood. She also likes Anne of Avonlea as well as Pride and Prejudice. This is very enjoyable for girls.

Chopping Mall definitely stands out as being one of the better b-movies of the 80's it was a cheaply made but fun horror flick. The special fx were quite good especially for the film's low budget and it has 80's scream queen Barbara Crampton who looks really hot in this film, the robots were pretty decent looking I mean they didn't even look that high tech but more like a 1950's sci fi film. The story is basic as a group of teens who are also mall employees decide to party after hours in a furniture store in the mall and it seems like the mall owners want to provide more security so they bring in some robots to patrol the area, the mall soon closes down and the teens are trapped inside and they soon get chased and killed by these robots or 'Killbots'. This movie is just alright. Not as good as the first one because the original guy wasn't in it, but again has to do with Time Travel, and if you like that stuff then pick this up.
