Far from being "hilarious" as some misguided reviewers have stated, this film has a few mildly amusing moments and little else. The script was not as sharp as it should have been - the "jokes" seemed flat and lackluster. Steve Martin and Sigourney Weaver were not particularly funny either. The two female leads tried valiantly to salvage this material but didn't quite succeed. Overall, not a total waste of time but pretty darn close.

I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I know that Will Ferrell is supposed to be funny and I keep waiting for him to prove it, but.....I'm still waiting. I stopped watching and ejected the DVD when Ferrell kicked a dog off a bridge. What kind of sick prick considers this amusing?

This was not worth the money at all. I love rock-n-roll parady like SPINAL TAP, THE SCHOOL OF ROCK and really thought that this would be good and funny, boy was I wrong. It really sucked, way too stupid and way too immature, even for me a 46 yr old teenager. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Jack needs to go back to the drawingboard before attempting another one of these.

This is a really good Christmas movie! Screw the critics, they don't know anything! It has a really good storyline about two dads who are competing throughout the entire movie. Steve is the 'Christmas Guy' in his town, but when Buddy puts up a billion lights on his house because he wants his house to be seen from space satellites, Steve gets mad. There is a lot of beautiful Christmas scenery, including Christmas lights. Soon, their wives and kids get tired of their behavior and go stay at a hotel. They are alone on Christmas and realize the error of their ways. They decide to work together to get their families back. If you love Christmas, and family, and comedy you'll love DECK THE HALLS!!!!

I am an established fan of ATHF. I went into theaters knowing, expecting, and wanting randomness, utter crap of a plot, and crazy going on's that's been the usual business for Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad.

Anything other would've been the real madness.

That said - it isn't as funny as it could be. It still is entertaining, and purely awesome in the fact that it's ATHF and a movie (so ha, take that mainstream commercial media), but still, as a movie it could've been better. Somehow, yeah, I did want to actually know the real beginnings of the gang - so I felt it was a big "let's diss the fans" with a big pseudo subplot. But that isn't essential or important in the scheme of things.

NOW.. I'd like to talk about the commentary on the DVD set. Somehow, someway Patti Smith ... Read More

Being a fan of the band Wilco (and Jeff Tweedy's previous band, Uncle Tupelo), I really enjoyed this documentary. I remember waiting for the 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' CD to be released and hearing all about the studio problems that delayed it's release for over a year. This movie chronicles that time period, and the fight Jeff Tweedy and the band had trying to battle the labels efforts to change their music to be more "hit oriented". When the album was finally released on an indie label (after the band bought back the rights from the major label), it was a huge critical success. There was vindication for Tweedy and the band. Highly recommended to fans of Wilco, or to those that are interested in seeing a behind-the-scenes look at the current state of the music industry. I applaud Wilco for sticking to their principals with their ... Read More
