Say what you want about this film. I purchased this Blu-ray as a guilty pleasure, but the good news is its video and audio are great. As one of Universal Studios' first Blu-ray discs this is excellent. Again, the movie is not without its detractors, but as a show piece this disc shines thanks to the wonderful picture quality and exemplary DTS-MA audio track. The extras, while modest, are entertaining and the only arguable thing about the disc is that its menu system mirrors those from the Mummy movies - same sounds and layout. Hopefully, Universal will entertain the possibility of original and impressive departures from this menu template. Not much else to say other than, "If you liked it in theaters, you'll love it on Blu-ray."

Many reviewers have complained that the movie "Troy" is not completely true to the Iliad in portraying the characters and events of the Trojan War. This is unfair. Even in ancient times, the Iliad was not the only version of the Trojan War stories, and the Iliad which has come down to us may not be the only version that was performed. The Iliad only tells what happened in the space of 50 days in the 9th year of the war, although it alludes in passing to events that happened before and after these 50 days. Like the whole Camelot cycle which developed through the Dark and Middle Ages, the Trojan War cycle picked up and incorporated the best (and contradictory) legends over a millennium from Greece and Asia Minor. I absolutely love this movie and the special features. It is action packed so there is never a lull, and it pulls on your heart-strings. It is a true story and for once, a movie actually got close to the truth. For some who were actually in Somalia serving our country, this movie may be a little hard to watch, my ex boyfriend could never watch this film because it was too realistic and brought back too many memories. But because it is realistic it is a great movie. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes true stories, drama, and war movies.

I thought the cast for this film was really good. I also liked how the director shot certain parts of the movie as if you were reading a comic book. Despite the positive elements, there were two main things that dragged it down. They were the wierd-looking super dogs, and the disappointing water creature that the father becomes at the end. The special effects were also lacking throughout. This one is decent, but the newer Hulk movie is far superior.

Saw this heart-warming film several years ago in an art theater and it's the only movie I've ever been to where the audience applauded. Have hunted for some time trying to find The Castle and was so happy to find it on Amazon. It is one of our favorite films. Shouldn't reveal too much of the story but it is basically about a man, his family and their neighbors who fight to keep their homes from being purchased by a large local airport, to build larger landing fields. It's a great story of family value, that your home is your castle ... it's a really great movie.
