Wow!! To tell you the truth, this is one of my all time favorites! I am a cult movie fanatic. I was elated to find Clash of The Titans available for sale, I bought it instaneously! I counted the days until it arrived and I immediately popped it into my sponge bob DVD player to give it a whirl, I was taken back thirty years ago to the days when creating special effects was something people actually had to think hard about to create. I love this flick, especially when they release the Cracken!!! Timeless

I didn't see that TV show and I don't find any interest in the principle
of the thing. As british TV shows are usually first released as DVDs in
America, I wish for the release of SCOOP, a London Weekend Television production (the week end branch of ITV)of 1986, a VIDEO COLLECTION VHS in 1990. This 120 minutes teleplay was directed by Gavin Millar, scripted by Wlliam Boyd, played by Denholm Elliott, Michael Hordern, Michael Maloney, Herbert Lom and Donald Pleasence. Does that make your mouth water?
It was very funny too, quite worthy of the novel.

This was an "OK" rendition of the Exodus. The cast is very good. The props and visual effects are top notch. The only problem I have with the film is that is strays from the Bible account of the story. Lots of things are left out or changed entirely. This is why I give it three stars. If you have never read the story of the Exodus in the Bible, I think you will enjoy it. However, I encourage you to read the Bible version of the story because its action packed and very exciting. Also, this way you get the true story with nothing left out or changed.

Having read the book and seen this movie in its earlier, original DVD release (a bargain, still, for those not wanting to shell out for this new edition), I knew what to expect in the way of story. This new transfer is, however, much more better, especially in its offering a higher-definition image with a subtler, more delineated grey scale - which is critical to the enjoyment of any well-made B&W movie. What really makes the Criterion edition so valuable are the extras included on Disk 2. First, there's a quite informative and candid interview with le Carre himself - in which he offers some revealing memories of the movie's casting, shooting, and on-set experiences as well as some criticisms of the final result. He is especially revealing about Martin Ritt, the director, an old lefty who was ... Read More

Before I bought this collection, I'd only ever seen one Chaplin film, "The Great Dictator". I liked it so much, I wanted a copy and at the time, this little set was on sale for half-off. I'd heard good things about "Limelight" and "Modern Times" as well, and so I figured,"What the heck?" and ordered the box set.

What an excellent choice!

In this set you get four fantastic films; the previously mentioend titles and "The Gold Rush", which I thought was the weakest of the set, but still brilliant and contains one of Chaplin's best-known routines.

These aren't dumbed-down versions of the special edition sets, either. If you buy this set, the version of "The Great Dictator" that you get is the same as one you get by buying The Great Dictator (2 Disc Special Edition), ... Read More

I like all genres and all eras and have a very minimal bias. The Haunting may not be on every teen's top ten; it is not a slasher/ gore movie. It IS spooky, frightening and incomparably suspenseful. My wife will rarely submit to watching anything with me but horror movies, and this is her favorite! She has seen them all. If you are under 35 years, and want to see the best of the classics, this is hard to beat. I know, there is competition: The Shining by Kubrick, and a few silent films if you want to get to the roots, but this has my vote!

I find that this movie was more realistic than any previous movie on the life of Moses and the issuing of GOD's Ten Commandments. The special effects were so well done. You can tell that ALOT of time and effort went into this production. There was some "straying" here and there from the Holy Scriptures, but, it mostly was on Target. Paul Rhys did such a fantastic portrayal of the Pharoah. He made the egyptian king arrogant and proud as he really was, but, had him exhibit human feelings and emotions as well. If you enjoyed Cecil B. DeMille's presentation with Charlton Heston and Yul Brynnar, you'll enjoy this new one also. It goes into more detail than the earlier one.

It's time I face the music, Woody Allen does nothing for me. I think I've only mildly liked one of his films and I keep watching them expecting that I'm going to have that 'a-ha' moment when it all clicks and I figure out this man's appeal. The truth is: it's not going to happen. Woody Allen's appeal is just going to have to pass me by. From what I can make out of this, the two running stories in this film have nothing to do with each other. There is a theological question posed, I supposed with Martin Landau's character and of course it's left open ended. Allen keeps trying to pass himself as a leading man, but it hasn't and never will work. I was bored thirty minutes into this thing. Watch at your own risk.

This was purchased to go with the book "Flowers for Algernon" for an 8th grade novel. I love to use contrast and compare with video and books. The students liked the movie-but thought they dressed strangely. Check the date for production.
