I saw this film in theaters when it first came out and thought that it was as really artistically strong film. I loved the idea of having 20 world-class directors all creating their own stories out of this spectacular city. I really should have bought the DVD when it first came out - not sure why I didn't. But now they're releasing it on both Blu-Ray and Steelbook. I'm really not sure which one to get - I'll probably ending up getting it on Blu-Ray because I really want to see some of these particular stories in a really high quality - its going to look sweet. But the steelbook tin looks really cool and is definitely a collectors item. Either way, if you haven't bought this film yet, now's your chance!

The movie has a great story line but some of the acting is a little unbelievable. In a perfect world I would remake it, cast my own script, rewrite some of the lines, and add more drama. Enjoyable enough but not a movie I would want to see more than once a year.

I got into a heated debate with a friend the other day about the difference between subtlety and lifelessness. He got all up in arms when I labeled Ed Harris's nomination for `The Truman Show' a joke. Now as many of you know, I love the movie, but I felt that Harris really added nothing to the film. He was less subtle and more hollow. So, when he said that I wouldn't appreciate subtleness if it hit me in the face I rattled off this little film and told him to bask in the glory that is Catalina Sandino Moreno and her brilliant use of subtle forcefulness. So, we watched the film together, and my adoration of her performance was deepened and I think I made my point.

This performance may be quiet, but it is in no way shape or form `hollow'.

Fast Food Nation didn't make me a vegetarian. I guess I'm like most people: when it comes down to the dirty details, I'd rather not know. Like war, no one wants to see a bunch of dead and maimed soldiers. To have an idea of something is one thing: to actually know, see, and understand that thing is quite another. We hear about illegal workers coming into this country, and we hear about subhuman slaughterhouse conditions--all of these things we hear about in abstract. But seeing these issues in a specific context enables us to understand these issues.

Fast Food Nation is a fabric of interwoven threads. The film opens in a dark alley in a U.S. border town in Mexico. Smugglers collect fees from a small group of poor Mexicans. The scene shifts from Mexico to the corporate offices of Mickey's Burgers ... Read More

If you have ever screwed up a great relationship you will find this film fascinating..William is YOU/and or me....It has a healing effect in letting the viewer know that others have experienced emtional pain and yet lived through it.....EGO (edging good out) is the real villian here..
Too much self absorbtion keeps one from understanding the object of their affection...One has to really admire Ethan Hawke's courage to put his story on the screen..A very thought provoking film, well worth the time spent watching it..

I just finished watching this movie, starring Brendan Fraser, who gave a splendid performance as a bad guy whose involved in an eyebrow-raising fiasco. The all-star cast includes Scott Glenn as his father and Mos Def as a sincere, immigrant caught in the middle. Of course, after the movie was over, I thought to myself,'It's just a movie.' After all, in real life, the good guys never seem to get it right. So, go see this little-seen movie and then compare it with your own life and see if you find any parallels. If not, watch it for the entertainment and shock value.

Take care,

P.
