This is a great movie. The whole family loves it, however shipping was terrible. The DVD was dislodged from the case and is scratched. Only the end of the movie is hard the veiw. I will never buy a DVD from the internet. Next time I will go to the store.

I loved this movie it is every bit as good as the first if not better. A great adventure. a must see!

I have the movie in full screen. I wanted a wide screen version to play on my computer lcd monitor. Oops!! it quit playing about halfway through. Tested on a stand alone DVD player same thing. Dispointed...

When Haynes was interviewed about this movie way before it was released, he said that this was going to be the first movie made about the sixties that really truly captured the sixties, and that no other film previously made had captured it and gotten it rigth. Okay. First off, let's remember that Haynes was a child during the sixties-- so whatever authority he has on that decade and what it was "about" is coming from a pre-10 year old's take on a decade and it's society, politics, ethics, aesthetics, etc. How he has become the authority who really knows what it was about is beyond me. Second, to make such a comment is arrogant, smug, and condescending to other artists (including those who made works about the sixties during the sixties). Denzel Washington is one of the finest actors of our time. This film did not reflect those talents and unfortunately the rest of the cast is not developed adequately. The storyline of going back to prevent the future has been done many times before. The concept was a bit confusing, due to the numerous flashbacks and flashforwards, but it was also not consistent as some other reviewers point out. For instance, why was it that some things stayed the same, when Denzel traveled back, and some were different. You could argue that "you can't change fate", but it just was a bit ambiguous. And why was there no reasonable explanation of how this would be applied. Sure, the viewer could speculate, but concrete examples could have added to the story. There are many things to admire in this well-ventilated political thriller. And some flaws, like Kevin Costner's New England accent. But I watch it all the time and I have only one criticism. The moment we have been waiting for for two hours, i.e. the Soviets finally agreeing to remove the missiles from Cuba in return for our pledge never to invade Cuba -- this moment, after all those scenes full of white knuckles, fear of disaster, anxiety -- this moment comes as the scratchy voice of a translator off-camera, "The Soviet Union has agreed..." and a quick shot of some tickertape.
