Hugh Grant is the floundering has been of the 1980s musical scene, now relegated to playing high school reunions and amusement parks. His talent as a lyricist has vanished.

Drew Barrymore is surprisingly good at the ditz substituting for the regular plant waterer. (Yes, plant waterer.)

Grant is offered the opportunity to write a new song for a pop tart rock queen, Cora Corman played by the drop-dead gorgeous and talented Haley Bennett.

You can guess the rest. Grant needs to come up with lyrics in a few days . . . and Barrymore is a natural. Boy meets girl and all that.

It all works out in the end, of course.

This is just a sweet, utterly predictable romance made remarkable by the excellent performances by Grant and ... Read More

The best cop show that I have seen on TV. It is currently my favorite tv series and is well written. You will like the characters and the scripts. I am looking forward to next season. For under $20 this DVD is worth every penny.

If you are looking for a great Christmas gift then get this DVD set or look at The Star of Bethlehem on DVD which is also on Amazon. I highly recommend both.

You won't be sorry with either purchase. Buy both and avoid shipping costs.

This is one of Stephen King's really good movies. Christopher Walken is great. You really don't know what's going to happen next. And a great ending.

If anyone wants to know what the book would have been like without the incest, they should watch this. It is basically an excuse to watch children being tortured and starved for an hour and a half. There's no point other than that. The kids don't undergo much of a transformation. They get sickly and dirty and cynical and that`s about it. At least in the book, they made devastating decisions that drastically altered their lives. In the movie, they're just acted upon. I think they scream in horror a lot. I mean, it's horrible what they went through but you can't just have kids be tortured for 90 minutes and call it a movie. Something more than that has to happen.

The uncle/niece incest is still in there, of course, and there is incestuous innuendo between Cathy and Chris, but it's even ... Read More

This 1980 film marked the Return of Don Adams,as Max Smart Agent 86.Don is hilarious,as usual,in this semi-sequel to the Tv show Get Smart. In this film Max is now A member of A group called PITS(I don't understand why it wasn't CONTROL?)anyways Max must stop A derranged fashion designer from leaving the world naked(The Nude BomB).This film is pretty funny, but what really hurts it is that Barbara Feldon, nor Edward Platt, are in the film.Barbara Feldon/Agent 99(Who Max Married)is replaced by Andrea Howard playing Agent 22.Andrea is no replacement for Feldon. The Chief, due to Edward Platts'death,is played quite unconvincingly by Dana Elcar of MacGyver. The reason this film gets 3 stars from me,is because Don Adams is so funny in the film. But had Platt,or more importantly Feldon, been in it,it would've been 5 stars.Funny ... This movie is a wonderful motivator for kids. It helps them realize they can work and make money. It has a great morals sprinkled throughout as well and teaches them how to handle life's emotional situations. I would recommend it for kids or preteens.

Recently I took the chance to see the film "Days of Heaven." Originally it was released in theatres in 1978 (months before I was born) and was remastered and released on DVD by the Criterion Collection about a year ago. It stars a young Richard Gere, Brooke Adams and Sam Shepherd with the legendary director Terrence Mallick at the helm.

The plot begins with Bill (Gere) working in an early 20th century Chicago foundry; being harrassed by his foreman. A skirmish between the two ensues and Bill accidentally kills him thus forcing his girlfriend Abby (Adams), his 13 year old sister Linda, and him to flee to Texas in order to find work. They end up on a farm of boundless wheat owned by a rich, and lonely Farmer (Shepherd) whose name is not revealed. While in Texas, Bill and Abby decide to mask themselves as brother and sister ...
