27 Dresses is a cute little movie about, yes, romance and comedy. While not perfect, it is a pretty good movie. I judge movies on whether I'll ever want to watch them again, and I would see 27 Dresses a few more times. Katherine Heigl is good at playing her title role, and James Marsden does light up the screen as the love interest, but... there is some heart missing. It's the cinematic equivalent of a Hershey's bar- you know it's not as good as, say, Dove chocolate, but you'll still eat it because it tastes pretty good and you're hungry.

Murphy's Romance: A light entertaining film. James G. and
Sally F. are perfect as usual. We first saw this on a long tour
bus trip and the whole group loved it, even on a minute
screen. RMN

This movie is adorable! Dolly Parton really is an angel in this too cute film. Dolly plays a singer who gets killed and St. Peter sends her back to earth to do some good for mankind. She is assigned to get a family back together and with some wit and unusal tactics - she does just that and in the process falls in love with the family. Good family show! I didn't know Dolly Parton could act. A real fun movie to watch and enjoy with everyone.

The only thing that saddens me about this movie, aside from the heartbreaking climax of a brutal attack that you must simply see to savor, along with the fact that this priceless artifact never made it to the "Big Screen" was poor advertising.

If this movie had been properly advertised, I would have been PERFECT for it's time, making movies like "Making Love," "Parting Glances", and "'Broke Back Mountain"

Harvey Fierstein wrote, directed, and produced this Broadway adaption of his fine work from the stage, and brought to the big screen, SEAMLESSLY, although Harvey of course, in his adorable self-deprecating humour, denies it all, making his quiet private demeanor a stark contrast to his "Diva" like status as a performer.

It's just no use to even try to explain ... Read More

8.A Girl Thing starring: Kate Capshaw, Stockard Channing, Rebecca De Mornay, Mia Farrow, Elizabeth Franz

...the scenes with Kate Capshaw and Elle Macpherson are SIZZLING!! Stockard Channing is always wonderful, and has obviously waited it out to "come of age" and into the roles of her career. Cameryn Manheim and and a few of the other actresses were really fun to see outside of the familiar roles we are used to. I'd recommend "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her" if you like this "vignette" format...it's a little better.

I have to admit that I honestly believed the 1976 remake of King Kong was the worst movie ever made- until I watched this absolutely ludicrous absurdity. Linda Hamilton was, and is one of my favorite actresses, but her talent was totally wasted in this pathetic excuse of a movie. I assume that this film came after the director ( John Guillerman ) was pronounced brain-dead. It seems like something a few first-graders might have considered a good idea.

The monkey suits were nearly as bad as the intentionally fake one in the Eddie Murphy movie, TRADING PLACES. The writing, special effects, and sets were also terrible. Only a stoner, or a complete masochistic moron could enjoy this silly piece of drivel.

The Challenger disaster was an emotional letdown after years and years of space successes. Suddenly, what had seemed routine was demonstrated to be not so routine after all.

Roughly four years after the fact this made for TV movie came out and I remember watching it with interest at the time. Peter Boyle's portrayal of Roger Boisjoly, the Morton Thiokol engineer that had opposed the launch of Challenger, was the high point of the movie for me.

Karen Allen played an effervescent Christa Mcauliffe. Upon my first viewing I was convinced that her portrayal was hopelessly idealized portraying Mcauliffe as a self sacrificing super-teacher but I have since learned that in real life Christa Mcauliffe was in fact much like the person portrayed in the movie.

As long as one remembers that ... Read More
