I bought this movie for my nephew and niece. They absolutely love it. They watched it over and over again. My sister and I used to watch it when we were younger, so it is nice to see the next generation enjoy it as well.

Since my hearing is pretty bad - even with hearing aids - I depend on sub-titles and/or close captioning. This DVD was described as having CC but it didn't so I could not understand the dialog.

I loved this movie, man. However I can't give it anything higher than a single star. It could have been great but for one very important issue. The Centurion who is present when the earthquake occurred during Christ's crucifixion states "Truly this was A Son of God!" WRONG! Read the Bible my friends, the Centurion said: Matthew 27:54 "Truly this was THE Son of God!'' Whether this was simply a misspoken or flubbed line, some slack oversight by the writer, or an intentional, calculated misrepresentation of the Word of God designed to throw confusion into the mind of the viewer.. First, I have not viewed this DVD from A&E. I saw the original PBS broadcast years ago and would like to purchase a digital copy. I gave this entry a 3-star to be neutral. My memory of the broadcast would be 5-star. Now for the reason for this entry. It appears that there is great dissatisfaction with the A&E transfer. The detractor's comments are very convincing and give me reason to consider another source of the transfer. There is a region 2 (PAL) DVD set available from Amazon UK. The reviews on the UK site make no mention of transfer quality issues. The published list price is £30 or ~43USD. It costs less for the UK version. "Pork Chop Hill" is set late in the Korean War as the negotiations drone at the "Peace Talks". An infantry company is given the mission to recapture a "strategically meaningless" hill. It's not meaningless if the Army sends you there! PCH is based on a book by BG S.L.A. Marshall, a prominent military historian. Right from the outset, there is a brooding, moody element to the film, especially early on. The b&w photography is just right. Gregory Peck is front as center as company commander, aided by a strong supporting cast, many of whom later became prominent actors. Thriller about some nonsense involving a meteor and Greenland Eskimos. The female lead has one speed: flat. Absolutely no heat between her and her alleged costar boyfriend. The little boy has a good part, but barely speaks. The plot is silliness. I was tired of Julia Ormond's non-stop anger about 20 minutes into this two hour film. Why didnt she just move back to Greenland if she was so angry about being taken from it? Good riddance! Watch if you have nothing else to do.
