And a slap in the face to the fans of this lame show!
I have watched every episode of this series at least once; some twice or even three times, if they are exceptional!
But what I cannot stand is being taken for a chump!
I am not going to go into a detailed review of these two "Straight to DVD movies". There are more than enough posts to cover the bogus, rehashed plot elements.
I am briefly going to cover one important fact. The Stargate & Company franchise's attitude to their viewers: "To hades with you, give us your money chimp!"
This is the formula that is truly in place for the continuation of Stargate & Company!
They were supposed to release these movies on DVD and then air them on SciFi. Greed entered the picture; and now it's like waiting ... Read More

This has been a long time favorite of our family; we watch it often, and quote from it regularly. After watching for many times over the years, we laugh even harder in anticipation of many scenes. Thanks to Disney for finally making this available.

The 10th and last season of SG1 provides an exciting ending to many story lines that've existed throughout the series. So many possibilities exist beyond the series for film, but you have to know what happended through the last season to make any sense of any subsequent films. Very entertaining and worth owning for avid SG1 or sci-fi fans!

Don Davis will be missed.

NightJohn was focused more on slaves not being allowed to learn to read/write and is recommended because it's another area to look at how cruelty was practiced during slavery. Not only the inhumane physical torture to break the body and will that is usually portrayed in "slavery in America" movies, but this movie focused on the attempt to keep the slave mentally crippled/enslaved "total helplessness". It was a crime subject to extremely harsh punishment or even death, if caught learning to read or write. It shows the courage and strong will of one particular slave in his determination to pass on what he had learned to other slaves, against all odds and regardless of consequences. Fine acting from the entire cast. Especially, Carl Lumbly, Beau Bridges, and the little girl, Allison Jones. ... Read More

This must have been a two part mini series. We started the movie, got a long ways in, and it said to be continued. The second part is also on this DVD. I think it is about 3 hour long total on the 1 DVD disk. The story is fine, and the filming is good. Over all an excelent choice to sit back an enjoy a long pleasent relaxing evening.

This movie tells the story of a quiet little boy who wants to go to California. His half brother played by Fred Savage decides that they are going to run away. The quiet kid is going to get sent to a mental institution or something, and Savage can't deal with it. Savage's older brother is played by Christian Slater, and Beau Bridges plays his dad. Christian Slater doesn't really have a huge role, but it's nice to see him among the cast, because he has always been one of my favorite actors because of movies like Pump up the Volume, Heathers and True Romance. I imagine the only reason he isn't one of the stars of the movie is because he hadn't become a star yet himself. Fred Savage is annoying at times, but he still gives a pretty good performance. and Beau Bridges is great. I always love seeing ... Read More

those who "know" auschwitz from several books and documentations know that several things in that film are not like they were in reality. but this is not important.
the story of gisela perl - a jewish hungarian doctor in auschwitz during ww2 - is told. and it's done well! it was sad to see the US authorities' skepticism she was exposed to during her interrogation, when she applied to work as a doctor in the states and was seeking american citizenship. they even accused her to have collaborated with dr. Mengele because of her work as camp doctor. they couldn't understand that auschwitz was an independent world within the known world, with its own laws and with only one rule: to survive - no matter the cost.
