I'd already seen "What the Bleep", but the second film took it another step. The assertion that down at the electron level it's nothing but possibility is amazing. Further that electrons can show up in multiple locations at the same time and have knowledge of its other location(s) tells me that we are all "entangled" whether we like it or not. So if I hit you I'm actually hitting me. For more, read about "Matrix Energitics" or "The Field."

I saw this in the theater in 1972 while restrained in the Marine Corps and was transported by the music, wide open desert spaces, anti-establishment themes, Kowalski's sense of fair play and nude hippie chicks on motorcycles. In other words all the freedoms I missed while being in the service. I really loved it then and was a little apprehensive about seeing it again as I wasn't sure it would hold up over the years. 36 years to be exact.

Well, the movie works on many different levels and it still holds up today for the same reasons it was a great "B" movie way back in the day. Now, the 1970 Dodge Challenger is a sweet, classic muscle car and just the sound of that engine revving over my home theater system is a nostalgic celebration. (Gotta get me one of those!) We miss Cleavon ... Read More

I can't improve on the first sentence from W.Corse's excellent 2/3/05 review:

"Absence of Malice is one of my all-time favorites, and the first "older" movie that I grabbed when it was finally released on DVD. In my opinion this is one film that should be required viewing for every journalism major in the USA. "

Some of other reviewers' comments make my eyes cross.
(1) The movie is "slow"? (Not if you're paying attention to Paul Newman's brick-by-brick implementation of an utterly brilliant revenge.)
(2) Sally Fields doesn't look too good? (I think she looks better in this film than she's ever looked.)
(3) The "attraction" between Newman/Field is silly/implausible/the film's weak spot? (I disagree. The scenes with these two are some of the best written/best ... Read More

This film does not measure up to films like The Hustler, Hud, or The Verdict but I believe it really should. Even though what happens is not exactly revolutionary by todays standards, the story really is interesting and the strong and effective acting by the three leads really does makwe this a highly entertaining film. Much like other Newman sport movies (Huster, Color of Money) the game itself is not the point of the film its the characters that matter most and the sport they play just so happens to be what they do for a living. Great Film

Usually, IMAX films are a disappointing (and expensive) 40 minutes of droning narration interspersed with a few spectacular wide-angle shots of stunning scenery and spacious vistas. This film is even WORSE than most because all of the wide-frame scenery is CGI. The few clips of actual moon footage are framed and superimposed on less than 1/4 of the full screen, and total less than 15% of the entire film.

The production values and voice-over work are excellent, of course. But this DVD should be restricted by law to be shown only for elementary-school science class. I would have been happier with just narration and dialog over some stock NASA stills. If I could rate it lower than one star, I would. Not only did I waste 40 minutes of my life, I'm out $12 bucks. Which is about what I would have paid ... Read More

If you want a good laugh, this movie is the answer. The premise is fresh, the plot keeps you on your toes, not knowing where it is going, but you love watching it all happen.

Steve Martin plays the part of a Hollywood director who does not have the means to make a good movie, but he has a script that is awesome, written in 10 days by his accountant "Chubby Rain." The plot is about aliens who invade our Planet and they arrive in raindrops. He tries to engage others, to no avail.

A super star by the name of Kit Ramsey, played by Eddie Murphy is the actor that could win the movie an Oscar, but he is too important to care be part of this small time film. And here is where the movie has a twist that is fresh and such fun because they decide to film Kit Ramsey without his knowledge and they just ... Read More

I bought this movie because I thought that the HD would be a lot better than the regular DVD. Like many other HD and blu-ray movies I've seen, most of the scenes are not that much sharper than the regular DVD but the color and sound are better so I can't complain too much. I am also running these on a Sony 40" LCD which may have some to do with that.

After watching "The Limey" I was in awe of what I had beheld. This movie was dynamic and mute simultaneously. The genre of this film is a neo-noir, in other words a modern version of those crime/mysteries films made back in the golden days of cinema. These old school movies were black and white, "noir" is French for "black", hence the term film noir.

A thousand apologies for the deviation on my cinema history lesson, I will return to the review at hand. I have to say that I am on the fence with Steve Soderbergh's work. Some of his movies are great; I loved the remake of Solaris in 2002, "Out of Sight" and "Traffic". Consequently, I hated all of the "Ocean" films and "Full Frontal". So I wasn't sure what to except from "The Limey". In the end, I feel Soderbergh hit the nail on the head. The acting, editing, ... Read More
