"The Quiet Man" is a must for any John Wayne collection. One more piece of proof that "The Duke" was one of the most versatile actors to ever grace the stage. This DVD is a great value, the interviews are priceless, this history behind the making of this cinema classic value added. You will not go wrong by adding this to your collection.

We were half way through our second disc last night when it froze & then filled half the screen with pink pixels. Guess we will see how to replace it. V. Van Ry

How have I not seen this movie before now?? It's true that it's very simplistic, for todays' standards, but for it's time, it is wonderful. I see NOTHING wrong with Yul Brynner strutting around half naked, showing off his shaved head. He is perfect for this role, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well George Chakiris fit his own role. The tale assumes the viewers know about the whys and whynots of human sacrifice, so it's really not necessary to explore it further. In my humble opinion, it is a movie that deserves a place on your DVD shelf if you love action, period pieces, or Yul. I'm glad to have it.

Diane Lane is amazing. She is raw, and real and full of fire. This movie, as old as it is, is NEVER just phoned in. It shows the reality of touring on the bus, the reality of how rabid fans can be, and how things change quickly, and not for the better sometimes.
And there is Fee Wayback as a washed up rock star, still touring. If you want to see the reality of rock, and see Diane Lane, stunningly beautiful (as always), this is the movie! 5 stars!

This film does not measure up to films like The Hustler, Hud, or The Verdict but I believe it really should. Even though what happens is not exactly revolutionary by todays standards, the story really is interesting and the strong and effective acting by the three leads really does makwe this a highly entertaining film. Much like other Newman sport movies (Huster, Color of Money) the game itself is not the point of the film its the characters that matter most and the sport they play just so happens to be what they do for a living. Great Film

Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake

This 1957 release is seldom mentioned in the same sentence as HIGH NOON, THE SEARCHERS or SHANE, but like those classic films, it is one of the great westerns.

Certainly it is a much better film than its 2007 remake with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale.

Notorious, albeit charismatic, outlaw Glenn Ford and his gang rob the Butterfield stagecoach, killing the driver. Captured after he dallies for a romantic interlude with saloon girl Felicia Farr, Ford is then transferred to a nearby town to await the afternoon train to the Yuma prison. His guards are two paid volunteers, ... Read More

DVD : The Butcher's Wife
Demi Moore, a psychic with long blonde curls? Yes, but it works and she is charming and cute in this fun flick that is worth more than one viewing. Predictable? Sure. But who cares? It is a great way to spend a little leisure time.

I also found it funny, especially Jeff Daniels as the shrink who doesn't know that he is already in love with the butcher's wife, long before they both find out they are each other's "split aparts". In the meantime, Demi's Marina character is busy match-making the neighbors, and then her own husband!

This is Deborah Kerr at her best! A young Liam Neeson is outstanding, as is Jenny Seagrove in the lead roles. Saw Woman of Substance as a TV mini-series is '86 and enjoyed it then - even nicer to own it and review whenever you want.
