I watched the performance of "COMPANY" on PBS months ago and quickly bought the CD. I decided I could not live without the DVD and I don't normally buy DVDs of any type.
Make sure you buy THIS version as I purchased the wrong version the first time and it only showed the actors working in the studio not the stage version.
LOVE IT!!!

So many people are surprised my this movie. The fact that David Lynch could make a simple, straightforward, sweet story has left many surprised and dumbfounded. Have all of you forgotten about ELEPHANT MAN??? He portrayed John Merrick with a sweet and sensitive disposition. In the end David served up one of the most sad but poignant endings more so than the straight story. I'm only surprised that he never made more of this style. He is equally adept at this style as he is to his bizarre plot provoking mind twisted movies.

If you have the slightest hint of impatience then this movie then this is not for you. If not then you in for a gem. Richard Farnsworth performance as Alvin Straight is nothing short of brilliant. It's a sad shame too many people missed it.

Hannah and Her Sisters is Woody Allen's third best film (Annie Hall and Manhattan are 1 and 2) I liked this film, it is quirky and touching. The best performance goes to Dianne Weist, she is such a natural, she's cute and refreshing in this film. Michael Caine is also good as well, I just wish Mia Farrow wasn't in this, she brings down the film with her sour facial expressions. Lovely romantic comedy for new and old fans of Allen's work.

I hold this movie right up there with Can't Buy Me Love. It is interesting, can hold your attention AND it has Patrick Dempsey in it! I love all his movies- they are the best! :)

Twenty years past its release date, Tin Men remains a keeper. Danny DeVito may have worn out his exasperated/enraged small man schtick by now, but in 1987 it was still fresh. Like Diner, Tin Men is set in end-of-an-era Baltimore, 1963, and so much that is in it has disappeared or declined. Crowd noise from old Memorial Stadium fills a part of one scene and the camera captures those brick row houses that lined the streets around the stadium in their prime. The Life Magazine scam scene and the diner and driving riffs on Bonanza are laugh out loud funny. In an excellent cast -- not only of leads, but with some of the era's best supporting players --, Barbara Hershey as the wife caught between the tantrums of shady aluminum siding salesmen stands out. And the fender level camera view of the tin men parking their perfect ... Read More

Review of "Narrow Margin".
Who could'nt love the trains and the Canadian scenery?
But further I am a Hackman fan so for me it is easily worth
buying to watch and loan to family etc. The R must be for
violence but it not excessive compared to any ordinary day
of commercial TV.
Bad guys (hired killers) chase the seemingly inept Gene
and Anne Archer up and down the cross-Canada touring
type train, and at stations along the way. At some point
you start thinking ... this is familiar, I've seen this before.
Because the story is a re-use of a previous classic tale
involving a train. But that does'nt hurt this movie at all.
Buy it; Cheaper than going to movies nowadays!

Johnny Belinda starring Jane Wyman is a gentle and important film. Wyman gave the performance of her career (she won the Oscar for best actress)she is so vulnerable and real as a mute who is raped and no one believes her. Parts of the film are dated and overblown but Johnny Belinda is still a good film, check it out sometime.

THIS WAS A VERY GOOD LIFETIME ORIGINAL MOVIE! TRUE, THE CAST WAS over 20, BUT THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED. THIS WAS AN ADULT TYPE FILM-NOT MEANING SEXUAL-JUST MATURE! IF U DON'T LIKE MOVIES LIKE THIS, THEN I'M SURE NICK AT NIGHT IS IN YOUR AREA....

This groundbreaking 1985 movie directed by John Erman won 4 Emmys (it was nominated for 14) and a Golden Globe for its very accurate, informative and powerful portrayal of what it meant to receive an AIDS diagnosis back in the early 80s. Though others followed shortly after, (Philadelphia, And the Band Played On, Longtime Companion, A Mother's Prayer, Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story), this was really the first major movie to confront the issue head on. I came across it on one of those lifestyle cable channels a few months ago. You know the kind; the kind that's up there in the high hundreds, the kind that only desperate housewives, the terminally unemployed, people skiving off work or people with no social lives watch. (Guess which category I fit into). As usual, I caught it halfway through but I found the subject matter so intriguing; I knew ... Read More
