If you are light hearted and enjoy being taken away from all of todays complicated problems "The Great Race" will fulfill your desires. I was a big fan of Jack Lemmon thruout his career and feel that his portrayal of the villain Professor Fate was one of his most enjoyable characters although I have never heard this movie as being one of his best efforts. I urge anyone who likes to have pleasant laughter on a continuing basis and still be held to figuring out the ending don"t miss the opportunity to see this film. It is one that you will probably want to view more than once.

All three movies were very cute and enjoyable, it was disappointing that the movies weren't in wide screen though. But for $13.00 it was worth it.

I saw this marvelous movie in the theater in Houston when it was first released.

Jeannette Clift George and the rest of the cast did an outstanding job portraying this true, compelling story. Ms. George has since become an accomplished playwright and operates Grace Theater in Houston, TX.

Readers of the book know from the outset Corrie Ten Boom survived to help write the book but it's such an intriguing journey to get there. The authors include numerous jewels along the way, stories that stick with the reader long after the book is back on the shelf: the train ticket held by her father until the perfect time, the test of faith by not lying about family hiding under the kitchen table, the fleas having a purpose, the heartbreak of the love of her life marrying someone ... This is one of my favorite Christmas Movies. I searched all over till I fond it on Amazon.com. I even watch it just when I need to have to feel like Christmas in July kind of thing. They don't make good old glamorous hollywood movies like this any more. If you can think of any pass it my way. When I watch a movie to be entertained I want to feel good when it's over...sometimes I just don't want it to end.

Koch DVD has gone the extra mile and released the 1961 family classic MISTY in a properly letterboxed DVD that preserves the original aspect ratio (2:35-1). This is a treat, because previous TV prints and home video releases have always been full frame. The expansive green vistas of the on-location Chincoteague cinematography are breathtaking in widescreen. The film itself remains the same family classic that it was back in 1961, when it was one of the highest-grossing non-Disney family films of the year. I hadn't seen it in decades, so this new DVD is most welcome. The film was produced by Robert Radnitz, who produced several other fine family films as well (ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHINS, SOUNDER, WHERE THE LILIES BLOOM, and MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN).

I've been watching the entire Otto Preminger catalog lately, and I got around to seeing what is arguably his most famous film. Seeing it again makes me realise that it's a masterpiece of tension, performances, dialogue, and cinematography.

There is so much to like about this film. Nothing here in the trial or the characterisations is present in black and white (there's even a dialogue by Stewart to a potential witness about how people aren't black and white). It is full blown ambiguity, resulting in a far more grown up and mature film than most current courtroom dramas are. It is also refreshingly un-PC, unlike modern courtroom dramas. I like to constrast this film with overblown, incredibly melodramatic shows like The Practice, which I used to watch simply because it was unintentionally ... Read More

Both Borders and Barnes and Noble now carry a widescreen version of Picnic:

Widescreen on one side, fullscreen on the other. It says "Columbia Classics" across the top of the package.

I wish Amazon would carry this version, as I don't want to open a new account at one of those other places just for one item.

Sci-fi fans will, more than likely, consider two films from 1968 as being the best of the genre: "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Planet of the Apes. To that duo, however, I would like to add "Fantastic Voyage," from two years earlier and also from Twentieth Century Fox, the studio that released "Planet" and its seguels.

As fans and film buffs know, "Voyage" tells the tale of a special team miniaturized in order the save a dying scientist from a life-threatening blood clot, the result of an assassination attempt on his life. The film boasts then-state-of-the art special effects, an Oscar-worthy score from Leonard Rosenman, and the anatomical assets, appropriately for a film about biology, of Raquel Welch. So impressive are the sets that they were reused many times for Irwin Allen TV shows.
