Karajan and Mutter give a very impressive performance of the 4 seasons, it is both pleasurable and entertaining, a highly recommended concert and Mutter is both precise and highly energetic!

I have enjoyed listening Mutter world and learned a lot of techniques. I have listened her live recital of all Mozart sonatas. I was deeply impressed by her unique phasing, techniques and also cloths. However, I was feeling dizzy during watching the DVDs because terrible camera work, which is changing scenes a lot and so quickly like HGTV. Finally, I gave up to watch them, just listen them. We haven't seen a lot of scene changes for short time at any concert. Please calm down. Anyhow, I don't like the camera works at all!! It is not like music concert at all!! Someone, please let me know whether or not other Grammophon DVDs are all same for future purchase.

While I was looking in Amazon some DVD regarding to Bach's music conducted by Karajan ( which is not usual ) I saw the violin Concerto in E Major, played by Anne Sophie Mutter, I wonder, ah jah!, this performance could be very interesting, but when I start reading some of the reviews of the people , I realize that this product also contains the great Magnificat, which is one of major works of Johann Sebastian Bach together with his Passions and the Mass in B minor, this Magnificat is a beautiful piece that I was looking for in many years. I have listened many versions of this piece since I was young, but this interpretation of Karajan caused a great impact inside me the first time I heard in LP recording, and it was a very nice surprise that the performance in this DVD is the same that I loved many years ago, ... The only taint I could find is the skill of the camera man. He is obviously not a violinist nor lover of violin. Most of the shots were on the back side of Sophie. For most of the time, audience can not view the left hand finger works which is a very important part of a video on violin performance.

2 dvd set was nice but didnt keep it in collection. Somewhat boring and hard to stay awake through it even at 7:00 pm. but it was nice-ish not worth more than 10.00 or get it on ebay

I purchased this DVD set with great anticipation. I have enjoyed Anne-Sophie Mutter since her earliest recordings of the war horse Mendelssohn/Bruch Concertos with von Karajan, and the prospect of a double DVD set recorded in High Definition was too hard to resist. Upon loading disc one, I thought I had a dud DVD. As another reviewer has stated, the orchestra seem to be out of focus and in some sort of haze. I checked the packaging and the DVD, but no, it was not a bootleg. I was about to complain and return it when I thought I would check other reviews of this set, and lo and behold, most reviewers had the same complaint. How could you possibly undo these landmark performances? Incredibly poor judgement in the editing room, in my opinion has accomplished just that. In historic performance films, the view was fixed at 45 or 60 degrees from the action, and there you were. You got to see it played, if a little stodgy on dynamics. Today, with HD cameras panning every inch, the danger now seems to become more the opposite. And that danger is fully realized in this "visual feast" gone terribly wrong. Somebody's notion was evidently that the closer we could be, from more angles and more often, the better. So it's just hard jumps from one extreme close-up to another. Throughout. The sense of an integrated collaboration in this music, the delicate exchange of dialogue is annihilated. I'm watching too incensed to be enthralled, mentally willing the ... Read More

I liked this DVD. Muller's playing of the "Spring" and "Kreutzer" sonatas is wonderful; watching the DVD made it seem that she and Orkis were playing just for me. The 2nd half of the DVD, the commentary on Beethoven and his composing, was also interesting, but the 1st part -- the music itself -- was the real winner. Recommended highly!
