Compré este producto en noviembre 23 de 2007 y me deleité escuchando estos 84 CD's. La calidad de las grabaciones es muy buena. Como tarjeta de presentación basta mencionar los nombres de Arthur Grumiaux y Kurt Masur. Esta colección permite acceder a toda la obra de Beethoven y por un precio razonable.

This is really a-must-have. One of the most significant composers of 20th century, Igor Stravinsky and almostly complete works with his own performances. All the records between 1950-60's, except some chamber and solo piano music performed by composer and recorded monorual in 30's. All the records' sound quality are really great, like alive. The orchestras are: Columbia Symphony Orchestra (based on Holywood), CBC Symphony Orchestra (Canadian). There are many brilliant soloists such like Isaac Stern, Charles Rosen, Shirley Verrett, Cathy Berberian (the wife of Berio), Philippe Entremont, in Les Noces four pianos are: Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Lukas Foss, Roger Sessions! i went searching for a Beethoven CD because i was lucky enough to find this wonderful Mozart one. But this Beethoven CD doesnt have the best performances. The most popular pieces are apparently played by beginners because the notes sound disjointed, as if they arent playing together but playing each piece separately, which is not what an orchestra is supposed to sound like....otherwise we wouldnt call it an orchestra....it would be an elementary school meddley! But anyway, the less popular pieces are boring, like the compilers didnt feel like paying for the good stuff. Overall, im disappointed with this CD. The picture is cool though.....(insert glaring smiley here).

I have an enormous amount of affection for this anthlogy. The music is quintessential Purcell- ingeneous, straight-forward, the show tune king of his day. This is a seven disc set. The first four discs are performed by Musica Antiphon, one of several European H.I.P. ensembles who seem to draw personnel from the same pool. This particular group empressed me earlier with a performance of the Telemann Tafelmusik which was far more spirited and fun than the benchmark perfomance by Musica Antiqua Koln. That same sense of fun is present here as well. The final three discs are harpsichord (and a little organ) pieces played by Pieter-Jan Belder. His performances are pleasant and musical as well. We live in a very hectic world and we as humans need to take time to relax. The soothing sounds of Chamber Music is just what the doctor ordered. Coupled with a good book, or just before bed, and the hours kind of just drift away. Sample the sounds online, if this is your kind of music, or even if you are a novis, this CD may be the one that gives you your first dip into "Long Haired" music. I cannot think of a better place to start.

The recording does not have the depth of sound that I was seeking. The selections are okay but could be better--however, this is only a preference. I more or less use the album as background music/noise; do not confuse Telemann with poor music but the recording, yes.

David Zinman achieved his great reputation with recent recordings of Beethoven's symphonies and he continues to enhance it with more recordings of Beethoven. Here we have the somewhat ignored triple concerto for cello, violin and piano, and the seldom heard septet for violin, viola, clarinet, horn, bassoon, cello and double bass. The triple concerto is something of a grand chamber work, or perhaps a modern concerto grosso with a concertino of cello, violin and piano; the conversation between the instruments is often started by the cello, Truls Monk, and passed to violin, Gil Shaham and to piano, Yefim Bronfman. All soloists play beautifully together, Bronfman plays with admirable restraint, never dominating, and soloists and orchestra play in perfect accord.
