This is a bargain for the price, with GREAT sound quality! Warm, but also clear. The perfomances are great, specially the mazurkas and waltzes and sonatas. I thought the noctures where played a bit to "straight", but it depends what one compares it to. I prefer Cortot for about all the Chopin I've heard of him before 1934 (Although I like Rubinsteins sonata better) and brazilian G. Novaes for the nocturnes.

I thoroughly enjoy these CDs. I tried collecting Mozart in portions over time, but his repertoire is just way too large to manage for amateurs like me. It is well worth buying the whole collection in one purchase.

This collection is as the name of the company says, "Brilliant". The recordings are flawless and classic. If you like classical music and enjoy even a few of Beethoven's pieces, this is a must-have purchase.

Yo Yo Ma has the perfect tender and romantic feel for Dvorac. Unfortunately he is not a powerful performer. He is relatively subdued and that is okay with this music. The fault on the very first selection, the concerto, is the recording. It is though he is in the middle of the orchestra playing with everyone else. There is very little presence given to him by the engineer in the mix down. This is very unfortunate. The listener must pick out the lead performer. I used to 'bury' musicians when they weren't up to par for the good of the whole recording. Everyone including the musican were grateful for this. However, Yo Yo was not having a bad day, and you never bury the lead. Shame on you guys in the booth. The rest of the album is just fine. I suggest purchasing Jacqueline ... Read More

Though I haven't listened to all of the CD's in this series which I ordered, I am very impressed with the ones I have listened to. Very enjoyable and informative, and the price couldn't be any lower!!!

Wow! Where the heck did this come from? There isn't one note here without energy, direction, and passion. The New York Phil sounds great as always but with an added layer of warmth especially in the strings and brass. For a long time, Solti's recording with Chicago was by far my favorite but I think this has overtaken it. The major difference between the two is the largo. Simply put, it has never been played better than on this recording. Thomas Stacy's english horn solo is beautifully phrased with a huge and warm timbre. The finale rips through with great vigor and intensity but is never out of balance. I could literally exhaust my vocabulary of hyperbole but I will end it here. Best recording of this great work!

Nice, baby-friendly arrangement of classical music pieces. Heavy on the flutes; half the CD is the same composer. Not quite as good as Baby Galileo, which was more varied in both instrumentation and composers.

I consider this release\compilation to be the greatest classical bargain of 2007-a year of many complete issues such as Bach and Mozart on Brilliant classics(before 07). Stravinsky is the conductor for almost all the performances with the CBS orchestra and, though recorded in the early to late 60's, the sound is spectacular. I am listening to disc 1(for the tenth time) and still love the ambience of old tape recordings(which I find far superior to much of today's DDD and DSD. I will take warmth, substance, and presence over clinical precision and unrealistic detail any day of the week. Much of the works here are the performances of said works. Of course the rite of spring has been reproduced about as many times as the bible, so it is difficult to say this is the finest, but it is one ... Read More
