What a rare treat to hear such a wonderful voice! The music transcends the various languages( Latin, Italian, French, Spanish and almost no English) and communicates directly, beyond intellect, deeper to sooth the soul. This we expect from Opera and Religious selections such as Pucinni's "Nessun Dorma" and Lloyd Webber's "Piu Jesu". A favorite is the solo rendition of "Time To Say Good-bye". Orchestrations are as light and lyric as the voice. Some tracks are found on other CD's and the enclosed photos are a bit risque, but again, the music reaches a much higher plane than most. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely and relaxing music to rock a baby. Even if you don't have a baby to rock it is soothing.

After listening to a representative sample, I would argue this set is a bargain at 3 times the price: Yes the recordings are much as Bach would have wanted them performed. Its as if you could enter a time capsule and arrive at the Thomaskirche just in time for the Sunday Mass. Most of the comments below about the sound or performance quality of this collection are due to this and not to production or recording standards which are high throughout. The 17 discs of organ works alone are more than worth the price of admission. As a whole they could possibly be the best collection available today at any price. Copeland's Appalachian Spring and other suites such as Rodeo and Billy the Kid are are at their finest in the hands of Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein gives clarity and strength to America's best composer still to date. Listening to this CD is a great pleasure and leaves one in an optimistic and forward-looking mood

I loved this CD. It has my favorite songs from Christmas. I found myself lingering on sweet memories and associations that these songs bring, such as attending Christmas eve services followed by a bounteous meal. The music is clear, and although the selections are well-known, they come across feeling fresh. During a time when so much is overwrought about Christmas, it is a real pleasure to take in the simple beauty of these songs. I particularly liked What Child is This and Winter From the Four Seasons. This is definitely worth getting.

This is the BEST Christmas collection that I have ever heard. I would like to purchase 15 more to give as gifts this year; however, it appears that Decca is out of stock or no longer releasing it. HELP!!

There are not many things in life that I would describe as just Gorgeous -- but this album is definitely one of them. The selections, the arrangements, the production quality, all are clean, yet lush -- simultaneously light and rich. The effect is wonderful. This may not appeal to hardest-core periodists, but for beautiful music lovingly performed, the album is very hard to beat. Not only rocketted to the top of my favorite holiday album list - it is already high on my favorite all-time list. It will NOT be getting put away with the rest of the Christmas albums. Year-round keeper!

I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of this recording. I used to think that only Angel Records could produce such quality. The people who did the mixing made me feel like I was standing next to the conductor. Every solo instrument seemed to sound its best. I also liked the interpretation. I though it was traditional and being a tone poem I had no problem closing my eyes and "seeing" the action.

This collection from the early years of Manuel Barrueco is one of the best values you'll find. It's 3 discs long and contains some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard. I've owned this set once before and had to buy it again because my original CDs were worn out from ware and tear. Highly recommended for anyone starting a serious classical guitar collection.
