Like most of Sparks love novels, this novel is unique within its own story. Theresa Osborne is taking vacation in Cape Cod when she comes across a bottle, that has paper in it. She opens it to find out that a man named Garrett has written a letter to his wife revealing his love for her. Theresa is intrigued by this letter and wants to find out more about Garrett. She is divorced and lonely. So, she embarks on a journey to see if others have found similar messages and actually finds other messages. She falls in love with Garrett and decides to go and find him. A relationship does evolve, but there are problems that arise because they are two totally different people. This story is a great read and will bring tears to your eyes.

The book was a bit slow in the beginning but as you get to know the characters, it becomes a faster read. The descriptions of the island are wonderful. Well-written book.

I really loved this book and was fascinated by the topic. No, not the baby topic (though I thought it was very well drawn out with Claudia, her sisters and Jess), but the idea of what would be a non-negotiable issue in an otherwise wonderful relationship. Giffin is a smart writer and makes the book entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time. Also, really loved the ending. I love that some questions are answered, but that some are also left open. Makes it more authentic.

Not traditionally a fan of historical fiction, I found this book intriguing and well written, and I wanted to continually turn the pages to the end. It paints the fascinating story of a real woman, her feelings and her life during a difficult time and difficulties that all during that time period had to endure. My book club even called the author, who spoke at our meeting via phone; Ms. Turner gave us more than an hour of her time, providing much background and perspective to the story.

I loved this book. I love the whole Mitford Series and have read all of the books several times. Jan Karon has such a gift for creating a place that we all go to and feel part of the community. I reread her books whenever I need a little light in my life. It just FEELS GOOD to read these books. They are never a disappointment. The people in them become family. I started the series at the recommendation of a librarian who came into my store and saw my beautiful Bouvier behind the counter with me. I've often said either Jan Karon owns a Bouvier or knows someone who does - she is so right on with bringing their sweet traits to light. Other people have praised this book more effectively than I possibly can. It's a major work of American literature, the first American novel I recommend to friends from other countries, and my favorite of Morrison's altogether gorgeous body of work.

Case Histories is not only marvelously entertaining but extremely well-written. As anyone who's read many mysteries knows, the two are hard to find in one book, certainly at the level they are in Case Histories. There are loose ends in the stories, but that didn't bother me at all - I'm much less receptive to books that tie everything up in a big red bow, or books in which you can hear the author thinking, "Jeez, I have to wind this thing up soon." Not only did I really like the book, but I'm giving it as a gift to a relative who's always looking for good new mystery series. It's the sort of book I can't wait to share!
