See my review of "Blood Brothers", the first part of this trilogy. I am a fan of Nora Roberts and have enjoyed all the books I've read or listened to, especially her more recent works over the past 5-8 years. This is another good one.
That said, this is read by a different narrator than Blood Brothers. I found this woman so annoying I wanted to rip the CD out of the car, throw it out the window, and go get the written book. Thankfully I see the third book of the trilogy is read by someone else.

This was my first Jodi Picoult novel and upon completing it, I immediately purchased two more of her books. I couldn't wait to pick up the book and continue reading where I had left off. It was captivating and heartbreaking all at once.

My Sister's Keeper addresses an ethical slippery slope of conceiving a child (Anna) to save another who has been diagnosed with leukemia (Kait). Anna is filing a lawsuit to obtain the right to make her own decisions about whether she wants to be a donor for Kait.

The author tells the story from the perspective of Anna, her attorney, her guardian at litem, her mother, father, and forgotten brother. I empathized with the plight of each family member in the face of their conflicting opinions about the best course of action for Anna ... Read More

Books : To Kill a Mockingbird
The only reason this book deserves one star is that something interesting actually happened, albeit AT THE END OF THE FRIGGIN' BOOK!
I swear watching Teletubbies or mold grow in your shower is more interesting than this book.I could not get through half of it.
Nothing even goes on until the very end.By then though, you have given up as did I.
I agree that the book has a good plot but, how the plot is written is an entirely different story. One reviewer on here said that it sounded like it was written by a fifth grader.I wholeheartedly agree.I will never pick up this book again.

Books : Codependent No More: How to Stop Controlling Others and Start Caring for Yourself
This is the book that started it all. I know it is cliché but, this book has changed my life and my thinking...

I was talking to my father on the phone one day and I was explaining to him how I have no problem exercising and eating right when Otty is gone but I can't seem to keep it up when he is home. My father then asked me if I wanted to know what that was called...he told me it was called co-dependence and that I should start learning about this by reading a book called Co-dependent No More. I pretty much ran out right away and purchased the book.

Now, I have never been a big advocate for self-improvement books, but I have to say that this book was very enlightening. Co-dependency has a different definition for everyone. This book made me delve into my own retched thoughts ... Read More

How can I relate how much I loved this book? The love story between Clare and Henry is simply hauntingly beautiful. I sat in an airplane reading it and it made me cry. The author writes each segment, each meeting between the characters with a stark honesty. I related to both characters and felt both of their joys and pains. It's an amazing story-telling experience and it's written in a witty and non-expected way. I just loved it. A pleasure to read...I just wish I found it earlier.

19.A Catcher in the Rye by: J. D. Salinger

Books : A Catcher in the Rye
I had high hopes for this apparent classic by J.D. Salinger. Like everyone else, I had heard immense praise for the book, and was expecting an American classic such as To Kill a Mockingbird. I was extremely disappointed. I would venture as far to say that it is one of the worst books I've ever read. For starters, there is no plot. The book is just a haphazard collection of stories that are mostly insignificant and confusing. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen, but it never did. Holden just kept wandering and doing the same thing over and over. Another point, the book is ridiculously and unnecessarily repetitive to the point that I wanted to rip the book to shreds. Every time I read the word "phony", "madman", "crazy", or the like made me angrier and kept me wanting to get the book over with. Also, the way Holden talks ... Read More

I am Nora Roberts' biggest fan. Period. Bought everything I could get my hands on. Read and re-read all her greats many, many times. BUT...I couldn't even finish this one. After about 60 pages, I put it down. I was bored, a condition I thought I would never experience with a Nora Roberts' book. Found myself skimming pages. If she would get back to GREAT romance writing, like the "Born In" series (the best!) or the Quinn Brothers series...wow...wouldn't that would be awesome? If she wants to write this "dark" stuff, fine--get another pen name and do it. But don't disappoint those of us who love the GREAT romances she's written. I would NOT recommend this series.
