I expected a little more depth of character and story development, but Flynn just rushes this book along, forcing an unrealistic plot down our throats. This is a world where the president looks at the window of the oval office in indecision and despondency at distressing world events; and does cliched things like end a meeting, then say something that sounds morbid or fatalistic just before his aides leave the room. A world in which the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff launches into a tirade about a doomsday scenario that would bring the earth to a standstill, and when career politicians whine and are easily manipulated by their politico-peers. And we're supposed to believe that the main character, who takes every last precaution deadly seriously, brings the woman he wants to marry with ... Read More

I knew better than to take this book at anything more than what it is: A work of fiction. With that approach, I found it very fun to read. The plot is interesting, the characters are well written and believable, and there is enough back-story to help suspend disbelief.

Vince Flynn's first book is goes absolutely to the heart of most conservative Americans! It is a MUST READ, one of the best books I've ever read and enjoyed. I have read it three times already.
It continues to amaze me how Vince Flynn had the vision and his finger on the pulse of radical Islam BEFORE 9/11. Just amazing.

Refered to this book by a friend. The book is a thriller and gets you from the first page. It was confusing for a while because of the difference in the book and actual events. This goes away as you quickly get into the book and quit trying to make the little details fit. The story does an excellent job of presenting how people of faith(Christians) react to world events compared to one of the main characters who has no faith. the presentation is not over bearing or heavy handed. The people of faith are attractive and makes me proud of our faith.

Enjoyed this book, but would suggest waiting for paperback as it is a bit heavy to hold. Mitch Rapp shares the stage with Nash, who is a warm, interesting character.

Absolutely another great thriller except the ending. This is the second Flynn book in a row that I have read that needed a better ending. Up until the ending I was ready to give this book a five star plus. Flynn had me so drawn into the book that I actually was in a hurry for the bad guys to get discovered and punished, but Flynn was too concerned about his next novel to give this one a proper ending.

When writing my first novel, al-Qaeda Strikes Again, one of my proof readers said that I should give my book a better ending and not worry about setting up a beginning for my next book which is what Flynn did in Act of Treason. The most important parts of a novel are the beginning and the ending. When Flynn tries to bridge the ending of one book into the beginning of his next book then he robs the reader even if the reader ... Read More

Alex Ford is a Secret Service agent on White House detail with three years to go until retirement. He's tempted to coast the rest of the way through his career, until a "suicide" that seems too cut-and-dried has him asking questions. Oliver Stone is a protester who has a tent in the park across the street from the White house. He and his three friends know more about the death of Patrick Johnson than just about anyone, since they witnessed his murder. The FBI is willing to write Johnson's death off as a suicide, since it appears he shot himself, left a note, and drugs were found in his home, but Johnson's fiancée isn't buying it. Her suspicions have agent Ford and his rookie partner investigating and getting themselves in hot water with the Secret Service. Alex can't let it go, though, when suddenly several terrorists suspiciously ... Read More
