I didn't like this one quite as much as the last one, The Laughing Corpse, but I liked it more than the first book. The most important thing for me is that this book showed another layer to the series: in the first book, the focus was on the powerful and terrifying vampires; the second centered around the undead and humans who raise them -- the evil of humans rather than the evil of vampires, in other words. This book is about the humans who have to deal with these evil things. The bad guy in this one was good, though it centered a lot more on Anita and Jean-Claude and Anita's attempts to live a normal life, all of which are effectively ruined by her association with Jean-Claude, because she knows who the Master of the City is and where his daytime resting place is, so everybody who wants to ... Lillian is my favorite kind of heroine, spunky and wild. She's the perfect disruption to Marcus's stoic facade. I re-read the book last night after reading it about 6 months ago and it was just as good the second time around. I actually laughed out loud in some parts of the book. This is how a romance novel should be.

I enjoyed it very much. Her books are very clean (language & morals) and I can pass them on to my daughters. She has lots of different stories going on. Each chapter tells a story about a different charactor, and they all come together at the end. Her books come in a series acording to the address. (Lowest number first.)

The book started off ok but then the reader discovers that Eve, the main character, is plagued by a very violent crime involving a little girl. Without giving too much away, I just found myself as a reader having a hard time getting past this point. It seems to me that the crime involving this child was ultra violent and something that did not need to be fictionalized for a book. Nora Roberts is a creative person who could have come up with a myriad of crimes that could have been just as effective in terms of a catalyst for a novel and a main character.

I read the book. Extremely poor writing. Extremely poor development of characters. Exremely boring plot. Should I say more? I'm just writing this review to warn the people not to spend their hard-earned money on this complete writing failure which somehow got published. It's a total rip-off: I think the big wigs (Quinn's publishers) thought to milk the cash cow (Quinn) at the expense of her creativeness and professionalism, so they got her to publish something so obviously bad as this. Not worth a dime.

I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did. I had always thought Daisy was the most annoying character of the four Wallflowers. I was quite surprised at how much I did like her. The story was very funny and romantic. I loved that both characters realized very early on how they felt for each other but didn't let on to the other.

Matthew was a great tortured hero and it wasn't overdone like some other books. He loved Daisy, he knew he couldn't have her and there wasn't a lot of internal whining.

This would have been a 5 star for me if I hadn't started to hate Lillian. She was my favorite of the 4 wallflowers but Kleypas turned her into a controlling monster in this book.

Lovely book with a lot of laugh out loud moments for me. Sorry to see the series end.
