It is very, very rare to come across a book that is purely and simply fun to read. The reason that this book is a classic is that it has managed to be just this. This is the story of Frank Gilbreth, his wife, and their twelve children around the turn of the 20th century. If you imagine that a family of fourteen would provide many, many occasions for humor, you would be very correct. This book is an account, written by two of those twelve children, of the many interesting and humerous events which befell them growing up in such a large family. As a mom I am always looking for books that are easy and somewhat mindless... since each story (or "blog") is only a few pages long it is a great book to pick up during naptime, before bed, while the kids are in the bath, etc and take a short break from reality and have a few laughs while you are at it. It is also always nice to hear about other moms who have the same fears, joys, and concerns as you do as a mother. This is a light & quick read and a nice gift idea for new moms.

Like the first 'Zits' treasury, this book will provide you with a lot of laughs, and you will probably want to return to reread the strips again in the future. I enjoyed this book immensely and plowed right through it in two sittings, even though I had planned to stretch it out over a week. My one quibble with the book is that several of the strips are exact duplicates of strips from the first treasury.

Our book club bought 8 copies of this book from Amazon for our August club. We knew we were all crazed with getting kids back to school, so we wanted something 'light' but with enough meat in it to have a good book club talk. This totally fit the bill. This is a great book to pick up in the car pool line or just before bed--one you can read a little at a time but it still brings you back for more. I am especially a fan of chapter 4, where she dissects the phrase, "I'm going to be a terrific mom today." Our book club had a great evening of wine and laughs and our own stories that totally mirrored her experiences.

This is a cute book; short little subjects, so takes no real time to read as moms don't have time to sit around with their "bon-bons" any more!!!

These guys are something else. Yeah I know a lot of it is planned in advance, but it is none-the-less good for a good laugh. They are the only two I can think of who can laugh at their own jokes and have it all come out as real. Really a pleasure to listen to.

I got this for my husband who works with kids often, and he frequently teases and jokes with them using the cute stories in this book... it's a fun resource for sure!

I read this book as a young father and didn't get too much encouragement from of it. I loved Cosby's comic routines and the Cosby Show, but I guess I was expecting some deeper insights on fathering more than all the cynical humor about all the trouble kids cause their parents. I also wondered why the book needed a lengthy introduction and afterward by a Harvard psychiatrist. Dr. Poussaint seemed to be trying to salvage Cosby's content with some expert professional advice on raising kids. Not that this advice was any more helpful, but I would rather have had it from from Cosby himself, in his own words and experience, than from an academic.

I never thought that adaptations of TV shows onto books was a good idea, because they lack the full experience that TV brings forward. But this book along with the other Family Guy books deliver that same effect. The book was well written and stayed true to Stewie's character, when reading you can't help but hear Stewie in his English accent reciting it in your head. You can consider this a 90+ page rant about the world, and who better to interpret the world than Stewart Gilligan Griffin? Some good laughs, it is a must buy for any true Family Guy fan. I've purchased every FG book to date and have yet to be disappointed (with the exception of Stewie's: School of Hard Knocks Book, $10 for a book where the consumer would have to write up more than the author did, it sucked, but life goes on) Buy this book.
