51.The Lord of the Rings by: J.R.R. Tolkien

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : The Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings books are great, but the publisher of these books really did a poor job of printing these. There is extra ink on some of the pages and the maps are poorly put in place.

52.The Harsh Cry of the Heron by: Lian Hearn

Books : The Harsh Cry of the Heron
I loved this book. Had a hard time putting it down! The characters were developed so richly, it's a shame this seems to be the last one in the series for these characters. I oved the battle scenes, and the ending, was characteristically tragic.

53.Pyramids by: Terry Pratchett
December 04, 1989
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Books : Pyramids
OK, so Pterry Pratchett can even make Egyptology and the mystery of the pyramids hilarious. Loved the bit where Teppic and Ptracy and the algebraic camel get caught in the crack between dimensions. Who knew camels could be so deep?

Once again, the Gears have created a spell-binding sage about prehistoric North America. The People of the Wolf have split into different clans - the Nightland People of Alaska and the Sunpath People of Canada. It is through the joining of forces that Silvertip, a young dreamer, his devoted companion, Skimmer, and Windwolf, a cyncial war chief, lead their peoples out of the land of their ancestors just before the Ice Giants destroy their world.

Books : Alias Grace
I am new reader to M. Atwood. I must say that Alias Grace was a wonderfully thought provoking novel. I am compelled to further research the Grace Marks story after finishing this book. I am looking forward to reading other works by this author in the future.

I agree with other posters critical of the ending. You get to about 20 pages left in the book and you're thinking, "no way is Hearn going to finish this series this book, is she?" Well she does, and it's disappointing. Otherwise, all in all, the series was entertaining enough to warrant the time and money.

I got the whole "Lord of the Rings" trilogy for my husband woh loved the movies. He has truly enjoyed listening to the audiobooks and so have I. The reader is excellent and provide different voices for each character. I would compare the reader to Stephen Fry of the UK version for the Harry Potter audiobooks. These books were definatly worth the money.

60.At Swim-two-birds by: Flann O'Brien

Dylan Thomas is alleged to have said: " Just the book to give your sister, if she's a loud, dirty, boozy girl" (quoted inside the jacket of my 1967 edition). I have no idea what he was talking about; he was probably just suffering a fit a jealousy. This is simply one of those indispensable works of art: funny, tragic, cosmi-comic.
