A great color reference for any graphic artist. A variety of sample color combinations included (Pantone specific). Color choice can be a powerful psycological tool in a design. This book helps define what moods or emotions are evoked by different color palettes.

this second book totally switches gears from her first book in a good and different way. if you are looking for a change this book is for you! her first book had lots of dark and grungy looks while this one goes to bright and whimsical! i would consider myself on the more seasoned side of collage and sometimes i get sooo bogged down in details that i need to step back a couple steps and see the simpler side again to clear my head. this book helps me get back to that blissful middle ground. great techniques to be had and a refreshing look at a softer simpler side of collage. great job claudine!

This book would be a useful reference for anyone who writes anything. Although the title is "Creating Short Fiction," I think much of the information can be handy while writing short fiction as well as while writing novel length fiction. The author provides stimulating exercises that get the mind moving in the direction of creating interesting material. A great addition to any writer's bookshelf.

This book has a few good ideas but it is very biased towards water colours.

the designers complete index is a must have for all designers out there in the field. it includes an idea based book to get you started, a layout based book for format and a color based book, all to make the designing process seamless. kudos to jim krause!

I can highly recommend this book as it has proved to be an absolute delight! Filled with information, but still presented in a delightful, easy to read and easy to follow way. Being old enough to have experienced the cantankerous and oft times spiteful ways of early drawing instruments made the historical section alone worth purchasing this book. The Author's knowledge and obvious respect for the earlier designers made for great reading too. One of the very few publications that one can open on any page and go Wow! plus get good information from.

This book can give some ideas on layouts, but the designs on it are very dated. So if you want to take anything good from the book you have to focus more on estructure, and how information is organized on the layout, rather then on the overall design. It's a good book for starters but I prefer Graphic Design Cookbook: Mix & Match Recipes for Faster, Better Layouts. The ideas there are simple, but because of that, never dated.
